By Ihezie Dede Walax

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Imo State, made an unmistakable political statement on Wednesday, 24th December 2025, as its leadership, stakeholders, and supporters turned out in large numbers for the Emeka Ihedioha Christmas Cantata & Festival of Songs 2025. The strong presence of ADC leaders at the highly symbolic event further reinforced the party’s expanding influence, growing grassroots acceptance, and readiness to provide purposeful, people oriented leadership in Imo State.

The high profile gathering, themed “The Set Time to Favour Zion” (Psalm 102:13), was hosted by His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Chukwuemeka Nkem Ihedioha, CON, KSC (Ome Nke Ahuru Anya), former Governor of Imo State, at his country home in Aronta, Mbutu, Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area. The Cantata once again served as a convergence point for faith, leadership, and strategic political engagement.

Leading the formidable ADC delegation were the National Vice Chairman (South East), Sir Bon Unachukwu, and the Imo State Chairman of ADC, Prof. James Okoroma, accompanied by key party leaders, stakeholders, and grassroots mobilizers from across the state. Their coordinated presence projected party unity, organizational strength, and a shared resolve to reposition Imo State through credible leadership and progressive governance.

The ADC leadership’s participation underscored the party’s firm grip on the evolving political landscape of Imo State and its growing resonance with the aspirations of the people. Party leaders used the opportunity to engage stakeholders, consult widely, and consolidate internal cohesion as the state moves closer to a defining political moment.

The event also attracted respected national figures, including His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, former Governor of Sokoto State and former Speaker of the House of Representatives of Nigeria. Also present were His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Alphonsus Gerald Irona, former Deputy Governor of Imo State; Rt. Hon. Barr. Uche Onyeaguocha, former Secretary of Imo State government, Hon. Barr. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, former Minister of State for Education; Dr. Clifford Ogbede, Executive Director of the South East Development Commission (SEDC); and Rt. Hon. Kemdi Godfrey Dikeocha, former Member representing Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala Federal Constituency.

Other notable attendees included Rt. Hon. Emeka Chinedu, Member representing Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Mbaise Federal Constituency; Hon. Chief Bright Alozie (Akachi); and Hon. Francis Nwogwugwu (Vintage Interiors), alongside a broad spectrum of political leaders, professionals, and stakeholders.

Their presence added national significance to the gathering and further validated ADC’s rising profile as a credible platform for democratic engagement and national renewal.

The worship service was presided over by the Venerable Rt. Rev. Chamberlain Ogunedo, MSc, JP, Amb. P., Bishop of Mbaise, alongside the Venerable Rt. Rev. Geoffrey E. Okoroafor, Bishop of Egbu. The cantata featured soul stirring choral ministrations conducted by Ven. Ozioma Nwaogazi and Ven. Dr. Kelechi Okere, creating an atmosphere of spiritual reflection, thanksgiving, and renewed hope.

Beyond its spiritual and cultural importance, the Cantata provided a strategic platform for political alignment, consultation, and recommitment among ADC leaders, supporters, and allies. The convergence of party leadership, clergy, traditional rulers, political actors, and community stakeholders sent a clear and resounding message: the ADC is united, energized, and prepared to lead Imo State toward transparent governance, inclusive development, and people centered leadership.

As Imo State approaches a decisive political phase, the commanding and well coordinated presence of the African Democratic Congress at the 2025 Christmas Cantata stands as a powerful indicator of a shifting political tide. It reflects the party’s determination to offer the people of Imo State a credible, principled, and people driven alternative anchored on integrity, competence, and service.
