Akwa Ibom Lawmaker, Udobia, Holds New Year Engagement with Constituents

Emphasizes Peace, Youth Development as Ikot, Robson, Etangkanga, Udonsak, others grace event

It was a moment of joy and celebration as the Member representing Esit Eket/Ibeno State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Engr. Udobia Friday Udo, met with his constituents during a New Year thanksgiving and engagement meeting, where he expressed deep appreciation for their unwavering support and goodwill.

Setting the tone for the gathering, the Council Secretary, Comrade Godwin Elijah, highlighted the importance of regular engagements in fostering unity and progress. He noted that Hon. Engr. Udobia has made it a tradition to consistently meet with his constituents to deliberate on development priorities and the way forward.

In her remarks, the Chairman of Esit Eket Local Government Council, Hon. Mrs. Uduak Ikemesit Ikot, stressed the need for unity as a foundation for peace and development. She praised the cordial working relationship between her predecessor, now Commissioner for Power, Hon. Iniobong Robson, the State House Member, Hon. Udobia, and her administration, describing the collaboration as unprecedented in the history of Esit Eket.

Speaking at the event, APC State Officer, Hon. Urua Akpe, expressed optimism about the future of the Esit Eket/Ibeno State Constituency, predicting that the constituency would produce a ranking officer by 2027 in the 9th Assembly. He urged constituents to remain united and supportive.

Also addressing the gathering, the Personal Assistant to the Governor, Mr. Unwana Evans, thanked the people for their steadfast support for Hon. Engr. Udobia Friday Udo. He commended the lawmaker’s outstanding performance, particularly the impactful bills he has sponsored, and appealed to constituents to support his re-election in 2027 to ensure continuity.

The Vice Chairman of Council, Hon. Elder Eddy Etangkanga, described Hon. Udobia as a capable and articulate representative who has effectively projected the interests of Esit Eket/Ibeno at the State Assembly. He noted that in the interest of equity, fairness, and justice, the lawmaker deserves another term to consolidate on his achievements.

Similarly, the Leader of Council, Hon. Ndifreke Etieket, appreciated the youths for their massive turnout despite the short notice. He praised Hon. Udobia’s pragmatic leadership style and urged the people to intensify their support ahead of the 2027 elections.

In his address, Hon. Engr. Udobia Friday Udo thanked the youths for honouring the invitation on short notice, wished everyone a happy New Year, and prayed for a prosperous year for the people of the constituency.

He described the gathering as an opportunity to appreciate constituents for their prayers, cooperation, and confidence in his leadership, noting that their support remains the driving force behind his commitment to effective representation, peace, and sustainable development.

The lawmaker further announced that his office would soon sponsor youths in critical vocational skills relevant to the oil and gas sector. He disclosed that ₦20 million has been earmarked for the first batch of trainees and charged youth leaders across communities to ensure a fair and transparent selection process.

Hon. Udobia concluded by urging the largely youthful audience to remain law-abiding, uphold peace, and continue to support the administration of His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, Governor of Akwa Ibom State.
