Akwa Ibom South Students, Parents Rain Praises on Senator Ekong Sampson over 100m Students Grant
Students and parents across the twelve local government areas of Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District have continued to pour encomiums on Senator Ekong Sampson following the disbursement of the N100 million naira Students Empowerment Grant.
The gesture, widely described as one of the largest single education-focused empowerment initiatives in the area, has ignited widespread excitement among beneficiaries, parents and community stakeholders.
At various campuses across Nigeria, Akwa Ibom South students expressed deep appreciation to Senator Sampson for what many of them have termed a timely intervention in the face of rising financial pressures in tertiary institutions.
Several beneficiaries, in some of the testimonies posted publicly across social media platforms, noted that the grant would significantly cushion the cost of fees, accommodation, and academic materials.
Johnson Ufot, Secretary-general, National Association of Ikot Abasi Students (Worldwide), in a message of appreciation to Senator Sampson wrote:
‘Your unwavering commitment to supporting students and empowering the younger generation speaks volumes about your leadership and genuine concern for humanity’.
Another student, Duncan Solomon – a physically challenged from Udung Uko, and Coordinator of Students Living with Disabilities, AKSU Chapter, described Senator Sampson’s grant intervention as very generous and thoughtful for students like him.
Promise Udoma, a student from Eket at the University of Uyo, hailed Senator Ekong Sampson for his ‘outstanding commitment to the welfare and advancement of students’. He added that Sampson’s ‘visionary leadership, consistent support and sincere dedication to educational development have greatly enriched our academic experience’.
Another beneficiary, Gospel Etim Ekpenyong from Urueoffong Oruko commended Senator Sampson noting in her appreciation: ‘Your commitment to serving our community and advocating for our shared values is truly commendable’ , while thanking the top legislator profusely for the grant.
Jeremiah Inemente Ishmael captured of Sampson’s support succinctly:
‘This opportunity you have given me is the first I have encountered since I entered school. With this, my school fees and my mom are taken care of. Thank you Sir’.
Parents, too, have joined the growing chorus of commendation. Many said the Senator’s initiative came as a relief during a period of difficult economic realities. They applauded Senator Sampson for prioritizing education and investing directly in the academic future of the district’s young people. A parent to one of the beneficiaries, Ekong Williams from Ikot Abasi, prayed blessings for Senator Sampson and assured of continued support.
Community leaders, youth groups, and student associations have also lauded Senator Sampson’s commitment to human capital development, describing the empowerment scheme as proof of his people-centered legislative representation.
The N100 million Students Empowerment Grant, which is being disbursed to students and some teachers, forms part of Senator Sampson’s broader efforts to support youth development, enhance access to education, and strengthen opportunities for students of Akwa Ibom South.
