Archibong Hails ARISE Agenda as Nta Isip Wins Ikot Ibiok Football Tournament
The Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Mkpisong Frank Archibong, has hailed the ARISE Agenda of Governor Pastor Umo Eno for driving grassroots sports development, as Nta Isip emerged champions of the Ikot Ibiok Football Tournament.
Archibong made this remark while leading other dignitaries, including the Executive Chairman of Eket Local Government Council, Hon. Mkpisong Akan Tommey; the Honourable Commissioner for Sports, Elder Paul Bassey; the Member representing Eket State Constituency, Dr. Nsidibe Akata; the Member representing Nsit Ubium State Constituency, Hon. Barr. Otobong Bob; APC Chapter chairman in Eket LGA., Mr. Akwaukutiso Akanimo and the State Secretary of the PDP, Mr. Ibnaga Brownson at the grand finale held at St. Paul’s Primary School Field, Ikot Ibiok.
Mkpisong Frank Archibong, commended Governor Umo Eno for his unwavering commitment to grassroots sports development across the state.
He noted that the Governor’s deliberate investment in sports has continued to create platforms for the discovery, nurturing, and grooming of young talents in various sporting disciplines.
“Governor Pastor Umo Eno, through the ARISE Agenda, is deliberately focused on discovering and grooming young talents while strengthening grassroots sports development. With the Sports Academy located in Eket, greater opportunities are being unlocked for youths in Eket and across Akwa Ibom State.”
He further applauded the Governor’s decision to appoint Elder Paul Bassey, a respected sports administrator, as Commissioner for Sports, describing the choice as strategic and impactful, adding that Elder Bassey has competently translated the Governor’s ARISE Agenda into tangible results in the sports sector.
The Chairman of Eket Local Government Council, Mkpisong Akan Tommey, alongside Dr. Nsidibe Akata, Barr. Otobong Bob, and Elder Paul Bassey, commended both the teams and the organizers for a successful tournament, urging them to sustain the spirit of unity and sportsmanship.
Nsika Matthew of Idung Akwa clinched the Best Goalkeeper award, while Anitie Bassey of Nta Isip emerged as the Highest Goal Scorer. The Most Valuable Player (MVP) award went to Sunday Emmanuel, also of the victorious Nta Isip team.
The final match between Nta Isip and Idung Akwa was officially kicked off by Elder Paul Bassey. Activities also featured a boxing contest by Eket Boxers.
