Business Group Backs Eunice Thomas For 2027
As campaigns officially begin for the 2027 general elections, a commercial group in Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District has moved to back the House of Representatives ambition of Dr. Eunice Thomas.
The group, Eket Senatorial District Business Forum (ESDBF), made the decision following its recent general meeting in Eket on August 19th, 2026, where a communique was drawn.
In a public statement made available to Akwa Ibom online media community, ESDBF clarified that the group’s members from the four local government areas that constitute the federal constituency have resolved to mobilise voters at the unit level to achieve its goal.
Providing further clarifications, the Forum’s coordinator for Eket/Esit-Eket/Ibeno/Onna Federal Constituency, Ms. Victoria Etuk disclosed that the decision was approved by the acting Director-General of ESDBF, Ms. Tessy Usen, and has the mandate of the Board of Trustees (BoT).
“And of course, we are fully committed to mobilizing for the Governor too, Pastor Umo Eno”, said Etuk.
According to her, their decision for Eunice “is hinged on her records of consistency in encouraging growth of businesses and providing several platforms for them to thrive”.
Dr. Thomas is seeking to represent Eket/Esit-Eket/Ibeno/Onna Federal Constituency at the National Assembly from next year. Until her resignation, she was the Federal Commissioner representing Akwa Ibom State on the Board of the Federal Character Commission (FCC). She was also a Non Executive Director on the Board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
She is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the election.
