Cameroon Targeted by a CAF Investigation
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the opening of a disciplinary investigation following incidents that occurred during the quarter-finals of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025. The information was made public this Monday, January 12, by the continental body.
According to CAF, conduct deemed unacceptable was observed during the Cameroon–Morocco and Algeria–Nigeria matches. Official reports from match commissioners, supported by video evidence, point to actions likely to constitute violations of regulations and the principles of sporting ethics.
The entire case file has been referred to the CAF Disciplinary Jury, which is responsible for examining the facts. Sanctions may be imposed on the players or officials involved if their responsibility is established.
In addition, CAF says it is reviewing footage relating to a separate incident involving members of the media in the mixed zone. In this case as well, inappropriate behavior has been reported.
The governing body of African football reiterates its zero-tolerance policy toward misconduct, particularly actions directed at referees and organizers. It stresses the need for strict compliance with the standards of professionalism required at its competitions and warns that any misconduct will result in disciplinary measures.
