Clarification on the Purported Governorship Congress Illegally Held in the name of Accord and joke of Electoral Sabotage in Osun State
Gentlemen of the press, distinguished members of the public,
I have convened this press conference to decisively address the reckless misinformation and unlawful political charade being orchestrated by some persons unknown to our party, the Accord in Osun State, who have been falsely parading themselves as members of the Accord and claiming to have conducted a purported governorship primary in Osun State.
Let it be stated clearly, categorically, and without equivocation that all the actors being named in the end-year comedy, including one Mr Fanibe and Clement Bamgbola are not known members of the Accord. Fanibe, for instance has since been expelled from the party since 2018 for fraud and other acts inimical to the unity, discipline, and progress of the party. Such a character or any other in his shoes therefore possesses no authority whatsoever; moral, political, or legal, to convene, announce, or participate in any activity conducted in the name of the Accord.
The Accord is not disturbed by this crude impersonation and political mischief. However, the public must know those being propped for this affront on our democracy are known APC affiliates acting as proxies in a desperate scheme targeted at undermining the overwhelming popularity and lawful candidacy of His Excellency, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, the people’s Governor.
Let me state with absolute finality that Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke is the duly nominated and lawful governorship candidate of the Accord in Osun State. This position is incontestable, irreversible, and firmly grounded in law, having emerged through due process in accordance with the Constitution of the Accord, the Electoral Act 2022, and established judicial precedents.
The good people of Osun State are therefore urged to ignore these distractions, which are the handiwork of politically displaced actors who, having been repeatedly rejected by the electorate, now resort to impersonation, falsehood, and institutional sabotage in a futile bid to return to power through the back door.
For the avoidance of doubt, the Accord hereby issues a formal and stern warning to all concerned:
Under the Electoral Act 2022, only recognised political parties acting through their duly constituted organs can lawfully conduct congresses or primary elections, after giving proper notice to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Any “primary” conducted outside this framework is illegal, null, void, and of no legal consequence whatsoever.
Also, any individual parading himself as a candidate of the Accord without lawful nomination commits a clear act of impersonation and electoral fraud, which is actionable both under the Electoral Act 2022 and relevant provisions of the Criminal Code and Penal laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The Accord hereby puts INEC, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services, and all other security agencies on notice that any gathering, congress, or primary purportedly conducted in the name of the Accord outside the officially recognised party structure constitutes an illegal assembly and an abuse of the electoral process.
We reckon that aiding such assembly too with security cover, especially the officers of the Nigerian Police is also tantamount to willful mutiny against the established laws of the land.
As a matter of fact, we are alarmed by the conduct of Osun State Command of the Nigerian Police, who disguisedly declined to receive a notice dispatched to security agencies over this illegality, citing the fact that the Commissioner of Police was not on his seat. However, the same letter was dispatched to other heads of security agencies including the DSS and NSCDC.
It is therefore surprising that the same police command found it convenient to deploy its officers to such a Gestapo gathering called by these unscrupulous elements in our society in the dead of the night .
We are hearing that the person being used for this heinous purpose is a legal practitioner. That to us will make our job easy, as our party will stop at nothing but to report him to appropriate authorities including the LPDC.
We therefore make bold to state that any institution or authority that accords recognition, protection, or legitimacy to such impostors or their activities does so at its own legal peril, as the Accord will promptly and decisively invoke necessary judicial intervention to protect its constitutional rights, internal democracy, and the sanctity of the ballot.
For the final time and for the sake of emphasis, by virtue of the valid primary election lawfully conducted on Wednesday, 10th December 2025, Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke is the sole and legally recognised governorship candidate of the Accord in Osun State.
No parallel structure, no impersonator, and no contrived spectacle can alter legal reality.
The Accord remains united, vigilant, and fully prepared to work with the people of Osun State for a renewed mandate for our dear Governor, His Excellency, Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke through lawful and constitutional means.
Thank you, and God bless Osun State.
Signed
Pastor Babalola Akande
Osun State Accord Chairman.
