Ekpo Pushes A’Ibom, PETAN Collaboration to Drive Jobs, Economic Growth

Minister of State Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, today led top officials of the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN) on a consultative visit to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, at Government House, Uyo.

The visit focused on exploring strategic partnerships with the state on the joint ownership and operation of upstream oil and gas assets.

Speaking during the meeting, Ekpo said the partnership is geared towards projects that would create more jobs, increase GDP, and boost tax revenues for both the state and the country.

He noted that President Bola Tinubu’s mandate includes ensuring balanced development across all states, and thanked Governor Eno for his openness to meaningful collaborations.

Chairman of PETAN, Mr Wole Ogunsanya, in his speech said a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) and a Memorandum of Agreement outlining the asset ownership and partnership framework would be established between the state and the association.

Responding, Governor Eno expressed the state government’s readiness to partner with PETAN on the initiative.

He directed the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah; the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Uko Udom, SAN; the Managing Director of the Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation, Pastor Imo-Abasi Jacob; and other relevant officials to immediately engage with PETAN and produce an MOU.

Governor Eno also thanked the Gas Minister for consistently supporting the state’s development efforts by using his office to attract meaningful partnerships to Akwa Ibom.
