The Unified Forum of Former Elected Councillors in Akwa Ibom State has reaffirmed its political alignment with the Member representing Eket/ONNA/Esit-Eket/Ibeno Federal Constituency, Rep. Okpolupm Etteh, pledging unwavering grassroots support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Forum, led by its Leader, Hon. Joseph Mbong, paid a courtesy visit to Rep. Etteh at his country home in Upenekang, Ibeno Local Government Area, on Saturday, in what doubled as a yuletide solidarity visit and a strategic political engagement.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Hon. Mbong said the visit was not merely ceremonial but a deliberate move to consolidate the Forum’s support for the lawmaker.
While describing former Councillors as “core grassrooters” with deep community reach, Hon. Mbong assured Etteh of their readiness to “go all the way with him in 2027.”
The Forum formally appealed to the National Assemblyman to seek a second term, arguing that continuity would advance both the interests of their members and the overall prosperity of the federal constituency.
Hon. Mbong particularly commended Rep. Etteh’s legislative productivity, citing people-oriented bills he has sponsored, including two Establishment Bills that have successfully passed third reading in the House of Representatives and are awaiting concurrent consideration by the Senate.
In separate goodwill messages, former Councillors drawn from across the four local government areas of Eket, ONNA, Esit-Eket and Ibeno expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded them.
The delegation was coordinated at the local levels by Hon. Ndifreke Akpan (Eket), Prince Dominic Offong (ONNA), Pastor Michael Etteudo (Esit-Eket) and Hon. Samuel Ita (Ibeno).
Responding, Rep. Etteh thanked the Forum for its show of solidarity and for identifying with him during the festive season.
He described their visit as a morale booster and a validation of his representation philosophy anchored on inclusiveness, service and grassroots development.
The lawmaker assured the Forum of sustained collaboration, pledging to continue working closely with them to drive progress and shared prosperity across the constituency.
He urged members to remain steadfast, united and guided by love, noting that cohesion at the grassroots remains critical to political success and effective governance.
Rep. Etteh highlighted several of his signature projects spread across the federal constituency and, in response to the Forum’s appeal, announced his readiness to seek a second term.
He formally solicited the Forum’s support as preparations gradually begin towards the 2027 electoral cycle.
Also present at the meeting was the National Secretary of the Unified Forum of Former Elected Councillors, Mr. Ukeme Peter, alongside other stakeholders, reinforcing the Forum’s institutional backing for the federal lawmaker.
