Gov Eno Celebrates Assemblies of God Leader, Rev Amaowo on 66th Birthday, Retirement Milestone
… says State dev’t agenda on course
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has extolled the virtues of Rev. Godwin Amaowo, and acknowledged his unwavering dedication, unrelenting passion, and exemplary service to the body of Christ.
Governor Eno made the commendation during the pre-retirement ceremony and inauguration of a school project by Rev. Amaowo to mark his 66th birthday and retirement from the service of the Assemblies of God where he serves as the General Secretary.
Governor Eno highlighted Rev.Amaowo’s attributes, tremendous contributions and sacrificial services to humanity and to the body of Christ, and described him as a true teacher, a counselor and moving encyclopedia of the Bible, equipped with God’s word and divine ability to deliver at all times.
He further said Rev. Amaowo is a focused preacher who never derails from his purpose as a true soldier of God.
The Governor thanked him for bringing honour to the State by serving with dignity and humility not only as a Reverend, but without blemish, as General Secretary of the Assemblies of God in Nigeria.
“Let me start by thanking God for a day like this. This is the day that the Lord has made, and we will rejoice and be glad in it.
“We had to come out here to celebrate with this man of God. When I became Governor, one of the things I decided to do was to raise a platform for Akwa Ibomites, whether in the religious cycle or any cycle at all because I was elected by Akwa Ibomites majorly to serve them. And I wanted our people to have opportunities in our meetings to share the word of God.
“It was a deliberate decision, and through that, we have been able to see men and women of God from our state that God has blessed with the word.
“I dare say that one of such men is Rev. (Dr.) Amaowo. He is a moving encyclopedia of the Bible. You need to listen to him, you need to hear him. He is a counselor, he is a teacher whose teachings fits all occasions. He is always on point, and I always like listening to him,” he added.
Gov. Eno congratulated Rev. Amaowo for his meritorious service which earned him the position of General Secretary of the Assemblies of God in Nigeria, thereby bringing honour to the State.
The Governor who is also a pastor by calling, charged Christians to emulate Rev. Amaowo’s virtue of hard work and sacrificial service to humanity, and appreciated him for the honour to share in the dedication of his book, titled “God Cannot Lie.”
“Above all, anybody who knows the Assemblies of God knows that for you to rise to the position of a General Secretary is not by man know man. It simply means you are good because if you are not good, they won’t keep you.
“You find time to come from Enugu, you drive from Enugu to almost all our meetings. That’s why, against all odds, I have to come here today to honour and celebrate you, and to say thank you for your prayers, and for making Akwa Ibom proud.
“You have served and you are now about to retire. You have not brought shame to Akwa Ibom, rather you have brought glory, you have brought honour and that is what we celebrate today. So we thank you.
“I want to thank you for considering me worthy by making me share the dedication page of this book. I am not sure I deserve it. I take the back seat, and let Jesus take all glory because it is Him alone that cannot lie.
“I am human, but I stand here very bold to tell Akwa Ibomites, that I will not lie with development. Whatever we said we will do through the ARISE Agenda, as God gives us grace, we are doing them, we are executing them block upon block, precept upon precept, and by the grace of God, we will get to our destination.
“All across this State, there is no local government that there is no project, and we expect our young people to take advantage of the opportunities that God has presented to us at this time,” he said.
In his remark, Rev. Amaowo expressed gratitude to the Governor for leading the State with humility, love and compassion through strategic transformative ideas which has raised the State to an enviable height and earned him several leadership awards for good governance.
The Clergy thanked Governor Eno for his support to the church and numerous life transforming projects across his home Local Government Area, Ikono, and pledged his unwavering support to him beyond 2027 to enable him complete his development oriented and transformative administration.
For his successful retirement, he appreciated the past and present leadership of the Assemblies of God for their various roles in his life, and promised to continue his service to humanity even as he retires from service to the church.
Highpoint of the event was the launch of the book “God Cannot Lie,” dedicated to God, and Governor Eno in recognition of God’s call and anointing in his life.
