Gov Eno directs govt officials, contractors to prioritise grassroots empowerment

Akwa Ibom State governor, Pastor Umo Eno has directed his administration’s appointees, contractors, and stakeholders, to share their benefits from government with rural people at the grassroots, in order to foster a more equitable and prosperous society.

Speaking during a special Sunday Service at the All Nations Christian Ministry International, ANCMI, in Eket, the governor said the need to reach out to the people at the grassroots necessitated the recent statewide Ward meeting of the All Progressives Congress.

He commended Local Government Chairmen and other stakeholders for their effective coordination of the meetings, and for a productive outcome.

“If this administration is benefitting you in one way or the other, make sure you share this benevolence with people in your villages for them to also feel the impact of this government.”

“This same grassroot meeting of the Party will be repeated next month of December to consolidate stronger membership and loyalty to the Party as well as sustain the people’s sense of belonging and confidence in our governance,” he said.

Governor Eno also reassured of his commitment to fixing failed portions of roads across the state as soon as the dry season sets in.

He implored citizens and residents in Uyo, the State Capital, and other places to exercise little patience for the rainy season to stop as all the poor roads within the areas will be adequately restored.

“Let me announce here that all the failed portions of roads have been appropriately studied and recorded down for prompt remedial interventions as soon as the rainy season is over,” he said.

He also disclosed that roads and streets in Uyo Metropolis and beyond will soon be provided with solar powered-light to benefit its status as a tourist destination and provide the necessary security ambience.

Preaching on the topic: “God sees”, drawn from Genesis 21:12, the Undershepherd of the ANCMI, admonished Christians to live with the consciousness that God sees and knows everything concerning their living on earth.

“Don’t let your past and circumstances behind your birth define who you are. The ways of God are not our ways. Whatever is your situation in life, God sees you. He will send an angel to you. Hold on to God. He will help you,” he reiterated.

He reminded the congregants that what God has kept for them shall surely come to pass, advising them to allow Him do what only Him can do.

“At times, God’s visitation to you may delay but He shall certainly visit you to turn around your situation for the best. Just relax and be patient,” he added.

The Sunday Service which featured sessions of inspirational praises, worship, and choir ministrations, was graced by members of the State Executive Council, clergies, captains of industry, political stalwarts, and Christian faithful across the state.
