Gov Eno’s Aide, Anthony Udoh Preaches Peace, Youth Empowerment at ARISE Unity Football Finals in Essien Udim

Peace, unity and togetherness have been identified as critical pillars for sustainable grassroots development in Akwa Ibom State, as the Special Assistant to Governor Umo Eno on News, Mr. Anthony Udoh, renewed calls for collective responsibility and youth empowerment in line with the ARISE Agenda of the present administration.

Mr. Udoh made the call on Sunday, January 4, 2026, while performing the ceremonial kickoff at the grand finale of the 2025 ARISE Unity Football Competition Umon at Okon Secondary Commercial School, Okon, in Essien Udim Local Government Area.

Addressing a large gathering of youths, community leaders and football enthusiasts, the Governor’s aide described football as a powerful social tool capable of breaking barriers, fostering peaceful coexistence and strengthening communal bonds.

According to him, sports remain one of the most effective platforms for engaging young people positively while promoting unity and mutual understanding at the grassroots.

He urged youths in the area to embrace skill acquisition, education and academic advancement as pathways to self-reliance and financial independence, warning against the dangers of social vices, cultism and criminal activities.

Mr. Udoh maintained that meaningful engagement and productivity are essential for personal growth and community development.

The Governor’s aide also called on eligible citizens to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration exercise, stressing that participation in elections is a fundamental civic responsibility.

He encouraged people to prepare ahead of the 2027 general elections, while canvassing support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Pastor Umo Eno, whom he described as committed to inclusive governance and people-oriented development.

Earlier in his remarks, the Youth President of Umon, Okon, Mr. Nseobong Okon Essien, expressed gratitude to Mr. Udoh for sponsoring the tournament, noting that the competition had significantly strengthened peace, unity and camaraderie within the community.

He commended the Governor’s aide for his consistent support for youths, describing him as a mentor who continually inspires and provides direction.

The colourful event climaxed with the presentation of trophies, prizes and cash donations to the champions, outstanding players and participating teams by the Special Assistant to the Governor on News, Mr. Anthony Udoh, drawing cheers from spectators and further underscoring the administration’s commitment to youth development.
