Gov Umo Eno has been vindicated for joining the APC – Frank Archibong

as Eket APC Endorses President Tinubu, Gov Eno, Senate President Akpabio for Second Term

Dean of Commissioners and the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mkpisong Frank Archibong has stated that Governor Umo Eno has been vindicated for crossing over to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mkpisong Archibong, made the declaration during an enlarged APC meeting held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the Eket City Hall.

Addressing a crowd of APC supporters, Archibong stressed that the Governor’s decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has proven timely and justified, especially in light of the escalating crisis within the opposition party.

He explained that the PDP’s recent meeting in Abuja degenerated into a violent confrontation among party leaders, forcing the police to disperse them with tear gas, an atmosphere he described as “completely against the nature of a peace-loving leader like Governor Umo Eno.”

“With the crisis rocking the PDP, it is clear that Governor Umo Eno is vindicated. Such chaos is unacceptable to a leader who stands for peace and stability,” Archibong stressed.

He further noted that Governor Umo Eno has effectively connected Akwa Ibom to the center of political power, ushering in a new era of meaningful development for the state.

Archibong also pointed out that Governor Eno did not join the APC “empty-handed,” but came “with sugar”, bringing appointments, job opportunities, and several benefits for Akwa Ibom people.

He added that Pastor Umo Eno has brought renewed energy to the APC, giving members a new sense of hope and confidence.

Calling for unity, Archibong urged all APC members to work together for the growth and dominance of the party in Eket and beyond.

“My appeal is that we come together. We have common ownership of this local government and our state, and the party must reflect the same unity. Gone are the days of ‘aborigines’ and ‘newcomers.’ Everyone will now stand on equal footing so that we can move forward effectively.”

Archibong assured that the APC is now positioned to win all elections across Okon, Central, and Urban geopolitical zones of Eket LGA.

“We have brought the winning formula into the APC. From now henceforth, APC will win all elections in Eket LGA,” he declared.

In a unanimous decision, the APC leadership in Eket, led by the Chapter Chairman, Akwaukriso Akanimo, and the party leader, Mkpisong Akaniyene Tommey, endorsed President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, Governor Umo Eno, and the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, to continue in office.

Other speakers at the meeting included Barrister Assam Assam, SAN; Akwa Ibom NDDC Commissioner, Apostle Hon. Abasiandikan Nkono, Commissioner for Sports, Elder Paul Bassey, Lady Idy Ekwo, Mr. Victor Edon; Akwa Obonganwan Mandu Abia, Barrister Ephraim Enembong, among others.
