Governor Eno Inspects Ibom Plaza Renovation Project
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, Tuesday made an on-site inspection visit to the popular Ibom Plaza in Uyo to herald the commencement of its renovation.
The Ibom Plaza renovation project, is aimed at restoring the plaza’s status as a premier recreational hub for residents and visitors alike, a move underscoring his administration’s commitment to revitalizing public infrastructure.
The Governor who was accompanied by key members of his executive council, was received by the Chairman of Uyo Capital City Development Authority Hon. Anietie Eka.
This visit aligns with Pastor Eno’s ARISE Agenda, which prioritizes sustainable tourism and economic diversification beyond oil.
Governor Eno toured the expansive 35-hectare facility, assessing progress on work.
The renovation focuses on enhancements to the plaza’s recreational amenities, the repair of dormant fountains, landscaping improvements and the installation of energy efficient solar-powered lighting systems.
“Ibom Plaza is more than just a landmark, it’s the heartbeat of Akwa Ibom, a place where families gather, youth unwind and tourists experience the warmth of the state.
“We’ve sealed off sections temporarily not out of neglect, but to deliver excellence. By next quarter, this space will shine brighter, drawing even more people to celebrate our shared heritage.”
Local residents applauded Governor Umo Eno’s unwavering commitment and tremendous dedication to the continuation of key infrastructural projects in the state. Emphasizing the renovation will improve the city’s aesthetic and restoring it as a symbol of civic pride.
“I will miss the old plaza but I am very happy to anticipate the new plaza. I know our Governor is a man of truth and I expect nothing less”. Mrs. Otobong Udoh emphasized during an interview.
