Governor Eno Restates Commitment to Inclusive Governance in Akwa Ibom

Sets Aside Eight Hundred Million Naira to Empower Non Indigenous Communities

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has restated his commitment to an inclusive style of leadership that promotes unity and ensures that every resident feels valued, regardless of ethnic origin. He gave the assurance during the Igbo Unity Day Celebration organised by the Ohaneze Ndi Igbo worldwide, Akwa Ibom State Chapter, at the Ibom Hall Grounds in Uyo on Saturday, 15 November 2025.

Addressing members of the group, the Governor noted that many Igbos were born and raised in Akwa Ibom and have built their businesses in the state. He said they should therefore be regarded as an integral part of the society.

Governor Eno praised the community for sustaining peace among themselves and for supporting the administration’s agenda of unity. He said their cohesion reflects the shared values his government has continued to promote. He also commended the entrepreneurial spirit of the Igbo people, describing their drive and industry as impressive and worthy of emulation.

He stated that Akwa Ibom has continued to evolve into a melting pot of cultures where diverse groups coexist in an atmosphere of peace and mutual respect. He attributed this progress to the government’s deliberate efforts to maintain peace, enhance security, and promote hospitality, which he said have positioned the state favourably at the national level.

Governor Eno announced that his administration has set aside eight hundred million naira to support non indigenous communities in the state, including Ndi Igbo, Arewa, Yoruba, and various Niger Delta groups. He thanked Ohaneze Ndi Igbo for naming him their Grand Patron and for pledging their collective support for his re election in 2027, as well as for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Godswill Akpabio.

He assured the community that his government would continue to work with all non indigenous groups to preserve the peaceful relationship that currently exists. He added that this partnership would endure as long as residents live peacefully, obey the law, and avoid involvement in criminal activities.

Earlier, the President of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo in Akwa Ibom State, Hon Kayceey Chidiadi, commended the Governor for providing purposeful and inclusive leadership. He noted that the unity and harmony enjoyed in their community today had been absent for many years. He also expressed gratitude for the appointment of their members into the state government, which he said was a privilege they had not received since the creation of the state.

Hon Chidiadi reaffirmed the community’s commitment to supporting the Governor’s re election bid, as well as the second term ambitions of President Tinubu and Senator Akpabio.

A major highlight of the event was the formal conferment of the title of Grand Patron of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo on Governor Eno in recognition of his support and inclusive governance. The Governor was accompanied to the ceremony by the Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt Hon Udeme Otong, the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, members of the State Executive Council, and several political and industry leaders.

It’s encouraging to hear Governor Eno prioritizing inclusivity and allocating funds to empower non-indigenous communities; I found some related demographic data helpful on https://seed3d.ai.
