Governor Eno Warns Coastal Highway Opponents as Model Health Centre Is Commissioned in Eket
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has issued a strong warning to individuals and groups seeking to obstruct the Coastal Highway Project, declaring that no action will be allowed to stall development in the state.
The Governor spoke on Monday, December 29, 2025, during the commissioning of a Model Primary Health Centre in Ndue Eduo, Eket Local Government Area. The facility is one of the flagship projects under the ARISE Agenda of his administration.
The newly commissioned centre is equipped with modern medical facilities, a solar powered laboratory, a fully stocked pharmacy, and staff accommodation. It is expected to significantly improve access to quality primary healthcare for residents of Eket and neighbouring communities.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Eno made it clear that the Coastal Highway project would proceed without hindrance.
He stated that nobody would stop the Coastal Highway project in Akwa Ibom State, adding that the government would do whatever was necessary to ensure its completion. He emphasised that while he enjoyed the support and affection of the people of Eket, his responsibility was to govern the entire state.
According to him, confrontational approaches do not bring development, and parties involved in land disputes should pursue dialogue rather than actions capable of undermining progress.
The Governor called for negotiation and constructive engagement, stressing that development projects meant for the benefit of the people must not be delayed. He also urged contractors handling government projects to ensure timely delivery.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr Ekem John, described the facility as a major milestone in the effort to strengthen rural healthcare delivery. He noted that the centre aligned with the administration’s commitment to improving health outcomes across the state.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Eket Local Government Area, Hon Akaninyene Tommy, alongside a prominent indigene of the area, Barrister Assam Assam, SAN, commended Governor Eno for his development focused leadership. They pledged continued support for the administration and its projects.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by members of the State Executive Council, local government chairmen, traditional rulers, as well as youth and women leaders. Their presence underscored broad support for the government’s infrastructure and healthcare initiatives.
Governor Eno’s firm position on the Coastal Highway project reflects his determination to sustain growth and ensure uninterrupted development across Akwa Ibom State.
