Governor Umo Eno Inaugurates New General Hospital, 2.2km Access and Internal Roads in Ukanafun, Friday 21st Nov. 2025

1. The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno,PhD, will on Friday, 21st November, 2025, officially inaugurate the newly constructed and fully equipped General Hospital, with 2.2 kilometres of access and internal roads in Ikot Akpa Nkuk, Ukanafun local government area. The project stands as a flagship healthcare intervention under the ARISE Agenda’s commitment to accessible, modern, and people-centered Health care delivery system across the State.

2. The new General Hospital executed under the Ministry of Health comes fully equipped with state-of-the-art amenities and will offer comprehensive healthcare services for families, and emergency cases. The facility stands out for high quality equipment, and clinical workspaces befitting a secondary healthcare institution. The 2.2 kilometres of access and internal roads guarantee smooth movement within the hospital premises and improve connectivity.

3. Key features of the hospital include fully installed oxygen wall units for uninterrupted oxygen supply; a 62-bed capacity across specialized wards; female surgical ward; male surgical ward; children’s emergency unit; pediatric ward; female medical wards 1 and 2; post-natal ward; antenatal ward; labour ward; accident and emergency (A&E) ward; and additional wards to accommodate expanded patient care.

4. The facility also contains six consulting rooms, a dedicated labour room, a fully equipped Obstetrics and Gynecology (O&G) theatre, a main theatre for major surgeries, a minor procedure room, and a modern mortuary. The complex further incorporates an integrated primary health centre, two automated operating tables, two manual operating tables, and two all-purpose delivery beds.

5. This modern hospital reinforces the Governor’s unwavering commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery, reducing referral pressures, and ensuring that quality treatment is brought closer to the people of Ukanafun.
