Hon Ayang Akanimo Ayang Eulogizes Uncle at Service of Songs

Another week-long activities lined-up for the funeral of the late Elder Inyang Philip Abakasanga was a Service of Songs held today Friday 2nd January 2026 at the United Evangelical Church, (founded as Qua Iboe Church), 61 Hospital Road, Eket.

After a short exhortation by the Host Pastor, Pastor Enobong Etim, and a” Only Remembered” song rendition by the mass choir, conducted by Elder Unyime Abakasanga, one of the sons of the deceased, was followed immediately by tributes from the family, friends and the church.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Mkpisong Hon Ayang Akanimo Ayang, a former member of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, former Director Ibom Power Co Ltd, Fellow Nigeria Institute of Management, Mkpisong Ibibio, Atta of Eket and a Stakeholder of APC took time to eulogize his Late uncle, stating that he sowed in them the seed of discipline, kindness, wisdom, adventure.

He also described his Late uncle as a Man of incredible spirit, who taught the children the value of hard work and the importance of finding joy and happiness through jokes and funny comics.

He added that his uncle love for his family was his greatest gift. He was so grateful for his guidance and exposure he gave when he took me to Port Harcourt where he Saw TV for the first time in life and the confidence he instilled in us through his associating with both White Men and Women.

Speaking on behalf of the church, Elder Dennis Moses, the Church Chairman of The United Evangelical Church, No. 61 Hospital Road, Eket where Late Inyang Philip Abakasanga worshiped describe him as a Paragon of Christ and a rare gem, who served God quietly and also served the church diligently.

In his tribute on behalf of Papa’s friends, Elder Samuel Asuama said, the Late “I.P. Abakasanga” as fondly called by his friends had impeccable sense of humor and sacrificed his leisure time for the things of God. He was very humble and accommodating. His demise has left a vacuum in the fold of friends, family and the church.

The eight choirs that featured prominently at the service of songs include;

2. United Evangelical Men’s fellowship choir
3. U.E.C Women’s fellowship choir
4. Superintendent Youth fellowship choir
5. The Elshadi choir, Edem Udo
6. Etebi Idung Iwak choir
7. Qua Iboe Church choir, Afaha Eket
8. United Evangelical Church choir, Mkpok.

The service of songs which was moderated by Mr David David Ekanem was also attended by the deceased’s family, friends, colleagues and associates, including Pastor Enobong Etim, (Residents Pastor) Pastor Ubong Emmanuel, Pastor Odungide, Barr Inam Wilson SAN, Barr Gladys Ekaette, Lady Glory Ayang, Engr. Edon Odungide, Elder Dennis Moses, Elder Charles Etukudo, Elder Abasiekeme, Elder & Mrs David Ndedu, Deacon & Mrs Anthony Enang, Hon Jimmy Udo David, Edwin Obong Atang among others personalities that were also on ground to grace the event.

The funeral service in honour of late Inyang Philip Abakasanga will be conducted by United Evangelical Church tomorrow Saturday 3rd January 2025 at Government Primary School, Enen Ekpene Street Eket, by 10.00am.
