Humanitarian Affairs Ministry Celebrates Princess Emem Ibanga on her Birthday 

In a warm display of unity and appreciation, the Management and Staff of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, led by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Eno Akpan, organised a surprise birthday celebration in honour of the Commissioner, Princess Emem Ibanga, at her office on Monday, Nov 17, 2025.

Acknowledging God as the reason for the celebration and the source of her strength, the visibly elated Commissioner said, “I am because God said I should be and I am forever grateful to him”

Princess Ibanga appreciated Governor Umo Eno, for entrusting her with the responsibility of serving as Commissioner, noting that the opportunity has enabled her to contribute meaningfully to humanitarian services in the state.

She also thanked the Management and Staff of the ministry for the thoughtful surprise, including various groups, teams, and individuals who visited with goodwill messages and gifts.
“Thank you for celebrating me and for making my day special. I am overwhelmed by the love I have received.”

Speaking further, the Commissioner described the ministry as a family and urged staff to continually reflect the spirit of humanity in their daily dealings.

“As the name of this ministry implies, humanitarian affairs, we must, in our own little way, endeavour to put smiles on the faces of others. Your smile can give hope to someone. It is a privilege that we are where we are; we are not better than the vulnerable out there,” she advised.

She prayed for God’s blessings upon all members of staff and wished them a continuous atmosphere of joy in their homes.

In their separate goodwill messages, the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Eno Akpan; the Director of Administration, Mr. Edwin James; and the Head of Accounts, Mr. Emmanuel Okon, thanked God for the life of the Commissioner and prayed for more fruitful and impactful years in her service to humanity.

Other dignitaries who visited to celebrate with the Commissioner included, the General Manager of the Akwa Ibom State Bulk Purchase Agency, Hon. Unyime Etim; the Special Assistant to the Governor on Humanitarian Affairs, Prince Nsikanabasi Umoekpo; the Special Assistant to the Governor on Entrepreneurial Development, Mrs. Meflyn Anwana; Personal Assistant to the Governor on Persons Living With Disabilities, Comrade Ubong Ikpe, Representatives from Zenith Bank PLC; among others.

The celebration featured intercessory prayers for the celebrant, while the ministry’s choir rendered a special song in her honour. The highlight of the event was the presentation of gifts to Princess Ibanga and the ceremonial cutting of the birthday cake.
