Lawmaker Donates Food Items to Flood Victims in Eket & Esit Eket
Hon. Okpolupm Etteh, the member representing Eket/ONNA/Esit Eket/ Ibeno Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has donated food items to 100 flood victims from Eket and Esit Eket Local Government Areas a few days after donating end of the year Items to members of his Federal Constituency.
Delivering the food items at the Constituency Office in Eket on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, Rep Okpolupm Etteh, represented by his Special Assistant, Mr. Samuel Ukwat, said the gesture was borne out of concern for the victims who have been grappling with the impact of the flood that occurred some months ago.
”Why we’re here is because some few months ago, there was an incident of flood in Eket and Esit Eket, and I was able to cover some areas. Those you see here today are real victims of the flood. I know there are some people who have the same cases but were not captured, so those here today should count themselves lucky and blessed.
”When alarms were raised about the flood in different areas, I quickly contacted my boss, Rt. Hon. Okpolupm Etteh, and he immediately assured me of his support. That’s why today he sent all these items for you.
”I know what we’re giving today is not enough to quench the effect of the flood some of you people have passed through, but we’re still working tirelessly to bring more materials. I want to appreciate Rt. Hon. Okpolupm Etteh for his efforts in trying to assist. From next year, whenever any flood issue comes to his office here in RCC Road, document your complaint.”
In response, Chief Jimmy Itauma, one of the beneficiaries, who spoke on behalf of Eket, said the gesture was very surprising because they didn’t request it from the House of Representatives Member, Hon. Okpolupm Etteh, and prayed that God should bless him.
”God bless Hon. Okpolupm Etteh, because even those we wrote letters to as a community didn’t answer us anything, but God used him to bless us today. We always support him anytime he needs our support.”
Another beneficiary from Esit Eket, Mr. Jacob Jacob, thanked Lawmaker Etteh for his effective representation and for always coming to their aid.
”We’ll continue to support Okpolupm Etteh even beyond his second term as House of Representatives member, and pray that God should bless him for the gift items. We also request that the government bring a lasting solution by constructing erosion control in some areas. We want a permanent solution.”
Mr. Daniel Uwemedimo and others who also spoke thanked Okpolupm Etteh for the gesture, prayed for him, and declared 100% support for him.
