Science Student Christian Boniface Ezekiel Cries for Help, lying in Critical Condition

…School teachers, concerned citizens, others solicit for his urgent medical attention

Final year student of Government Technical College, Effoi in Eket Local Government Area, Christian Boniface Ezekiel, life is at a critical condition and need urgent medical attention (surgery) for him to survive.

Ezekiel hails from Ntak Inyang in Esit Eket Local Government Area but lived with his father Mr. Boniface Ezekiel in Effoi where he was schooling before the unfortunate incident.

Ezekiel’s life began to deteriorate after he was beaten by her stepmother, Mrs. Rebecca Okon Samuel from Okon, Ikot Abasi LGA, who is at large, for assisting their Pastor with house chores.

According to the story, Christian Boniface Ezekiel, came back from school and decided to visit their Pastor to help him with some house chores as usual. When he returned home, the stepmother started to beat him and hitting his hand until she broke it, leaving the boy in severe pains.

After the incident, no proper care or medical attention was administered and the boy was left with the pains which prompted him to stay out of school. As the Sanitary Prefect of Government Technical College Effoi, his absence was felt and one of the teachers demanded to know his whereabout.

It was also noticed that when it was time for exam, Christian was not seen or heard of. This happened about September 2025 until the school closed for first term, which he missed the exam.

Probing further, one of the teachers while visiting Immanuel Hospital Eket, saw the young lad in a very critical condition with swollen stomach and hand lying in hospital bed. She was the one that informed her colleagues about Christian health condition.

Speaking with the Chief Medical Director of Immanuel Hospital Eket, Dr. Idongesit Itaketo, he revealed that the boy though has been discharged, has to go through seizure to enable the facility to restore him back to life, hence he would have passed on.

He disclosed that X-ray has been performed on the boy and the result is available for further medical treatment.

Speaking further, Dr. Itaketo, said the boy has to be referred to another facility, that he has called Ibom Specialist Hospital Uyo and another medical facility in Owerri Imo State where the surgery can be performed.

According to Dr. Itaketo, “The patient has malignancy of the left humeral bone, destroying the bone. We are looking at radiation therapy, chemotherapy and surgical as applicable and any other things applicable.”

It is also reported that the perpetrator of this heinous crime against this boy is at large after she saw that the boy health was deteriorating on daily basis.

One of the teachers, Mrs. Emem Wilson, who has shown so much interest in the boy survival is calling on government, philanthropists, corporate organizations and spirited individuals to come to the rescue of Master Christian Boniface Ezekiel, for his further medical treatment.

Reacting on the issue, a concerned citizen who crave anonymity said the woman who broke the boy’s hand is wicked, that she knows the implication of her action, hence is decided to run away, calling for her arrest and prosecution to serve as deterrent to others wicked step-mothers.

As at the time of filing this report, information at our disposal has it that the father of the boy has taken him to a church in Effoi.
