Senator Ekong Sampson Disburses N100 Million for Akwa Ibom South Students, December 1, 2025

The Office of Senator Ekong Sampson, representing Akwa Ibom South, is pleased to announce the landmark disbursement of ₦100 million Empowerment Grant to eligible students of Akwa Ibom South extraction, scheduled to hold today, at the Senator Ekong Sampson Constituency Office, 105, Atabong Road, Eket, Akwa Ibom State, by 1pm.

The unique intervention is part of Senator Sampson’s sustained commitment to promoting education, youth development and human capital growth across Akwa Ibom South. The initiative is designed to support students of Akwa Ibom South in tertiary institutions, ease financial burdens, expand access to learning opportunities, and inspire academic excellence across all cadres.

Senator Sampson has continued to place education as one of the major focal points of his representation in the Senate, hence, his interest and investment in the sector. The Onomkpoinam Mkpat Enin personally teaches in some secondary schools in Akwa Ibom South as a way of motivating students. His sponsorship of a Bill for the Establishment of Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi, a Bill for the Establishment of Federal University of Medical Sciences, Eket and strong advocacy for the take-off of the University of Maritime Studies, Oron, are clear testaments to his passion for education.

So far, Onomkpoinam Mkpat Enin has undertaken the construction of CBT Centres at St. Vincent Secondary School, Oti-Oro, Okobo, Excellence College, Ikot Unya, Mkpat Enin and St. Francis Secondary School, Ikot Ataku, Eket; construction of hostel facility and staff quarters at Excellence College, Ikot Unya, Mkpat Enin, Community Secondary School, Udung Uko, among others. In addition, Senator Sampson has identified a number of schools across Akwa Ibom South that will benefit, in no distant time, from various construction projects, spanning school blocks to sports facilities.

Tomorrow’s grants presentation reflects his vision for educational advancement in the Senatorial District. Since 2005, under the Ekong Sampson Empowerment Program (ESEP), thousands of youths have benefited from Senator Sampson’s interventions in education and other pursuits.

Beneficiaries of the latest empowerment, drawn from across the 12 Local Government Areas of the Senatorial District, were selected in an all-inclusive, transparent process. A full list of beneficiaries in the education empowerment program will be published across various media platforms.

Senator Sampson’s latest gesture adds to his long list of empowerment interventions, developmental initiatives, and advocacy efforts ranging from training programmes, job placements to strategic infrastructure.

Notedly, another tranche of Senator Ekong Sampson’s business grants empowerment and donation of cars, tricycles and various other support items will follow shortly after this. Recall that Senator Sampson had his first empowerment in the Senate within his one year in office.
