SSDC MD Pledges Collaboration with FCT, Vows Development for South-South
The Managing Director of the South-South Development Commission (SSDC), Ms Usoro Akpabio has pledged deep collaboration with the Federal Capital Territory and other government agencies to drive development in the South-South region.
The commitment was made during a courtesy visit by the SSDC board to the FCT Minister, Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, on Wednesday.
“On behalf of the South-South Development Commission, be rest assured that we are fully committed to driving economic growth and sustainable regional development,” Akpabio stated. She emphasized the commission’s plan to “strengthen collaboration and deepen engagement with all relevant government agencies,” ensuring the region is strategically positioned in national policies.
In his response, Minister Wike charged the board to focus on grassroots development and maintain absolute loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He sternly warned the commission against political division and the misuse of public funds. “Don’t award projects to satisfy selfish interests,” Wike stressed, advising them to consult with state governors to avoid project duplication and to practice financial prudence.
The Board Chairman, Hon. Chibudom Nwuche, thanked Wike for his role in establishing the commission and promised to emulate the Minister’s “result-driven” approach to infrastructure.
The South-South Development Commission was established by the Tinubu administration to accelerate economic and infrastructural development in the oil-producing region.
