Xmas Unplugged 3.0: NDDC Board Member, Nkono, Tips Eket For Success
As Eket Local Government Area lit up Day 2 of the Christmas Unplugged 3.0 carnival, an illustrious son of the area, Apostle Abasiandikan Nkono, confidently projected a top finish for the area in the ongoing festivity.
Nkono, who represents Akwa Ibom State on the Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), who attended the event with his spouse, Mrs. Etieno Nkono, attributed his belief to the “exceptional brilliance” showcased by Eket on Tuesday at the Christmas Park.
A strong assemblage of Eket leaders, sons, and daughters gathered at the venue to present a rich blend of their heritage, featuring a vibrant procession, cultural displays, a food exhibition, and a show of colourful traditional attires.
Addressing journalists at the event, which he described as a historic “red-letter day” for the oil-rich area, Apostle Nkono stressed that the presentation captured the depth and beauty of Eket’s cultural heritage.
“Today affords us the opportunity to showcase all that we have. We really came prepared. You can see how colourful our presentation is,” he said. “We have 31 LGAs; I bet you that Eket will rank very high in the final standings, maybe 1st or 2nd, due to our level of preparedness and beautiful outing.”
He however clarified that Eket LGA “came not necessarily to ignite a competition, but in solidarity with Akwa Ibom people and the government of Akwa Ibom State in the joy of the beautiful season.”
Apostle Nkono highlighted a specific infrastructure investment as evidence of government commitment to making the event a success. “The Unity Park has been modified as you can see; the government has sunk in good funds to upgrade the facility.”
The NDDC Board Member also called for political solidarity, urging the public to remain steadfast in their support for leaders at all levels.
“Let’s be steadfast and keep supporting Mr. President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu; support the President of the Senate, His Excellency Godswill Akpabio; support His Excellency the Governor, who has passion and service for Akwa Ibom State. He is a unifier. Let’s rally around them. With that, the Akwa Ibom that we are dreaming of as an El Dorado will emerge,” Nkono appealed.
