The Eket chapter office of the All Progressives Congress (APC), along Afaha Uqua Road, Eket, was agog on Tuesday, December 30, as the Executive Chairman of Eket local government area, Rt. Hon. Akaninyene Tommey, Akwa Ibom State NDDC Commissioner, Apostle Abasiandikan Nkono, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Rt. Hon. Frank Archibong, Commissioner for Sport, Elder Paul Bassey, Deputy Leader of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Nsidibe Akata PhD, Eket council scribe, Pastor John Odungide, Leader of Eket legislature, Hon. Joy Ekanem, Special Assistant to Gov. Umo Eno on Entertainment, Minister Joseph Festus, Special Assistant to Gov. Umo Eno on Media, Hon. Mfon Bassey, Personal Aides to the governor from Eket, Councilors, and other political appointees were at the Eket chapter office of All Progressives Congress to celebrate Christmas with the chapter and ward officers of the party.
Welcoming them into Eket APC chapter office for the first time, acting chapter chairman of the party, Engr. Akwaukiriso Akanimo Akpan lauded the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, for joining the APC, a move he noted contributed to the unity and progress witnessed in the state.
He thanked Apostle Abasiandikan Nkono, Akwa Ibom State NDDC Commissioner, for piloting the affairs of the party over the years, noting that with the entry of elected office holders and government appointees in the area, the party is poised to make an impact in Eket LGA. While commending the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and other APC stakeholders in the state for the role they played in ensuring that Akwa Ibom State became an APC state, he assured that APC in Eket is ready to work for the re-election of President Tinubu and Pastor Umo Eno.
“Our party is grateful for the visit of all political appointees in Eket to the structure of the party. We commend the Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, for joining APC and his good plans towards the development of the state. Eket chapter of our great party is ready to join hands with other chapters in the state and work for the re-election of President Tinubu, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and Gov. Umo Eno,” he said.
Speaking, Akwa Ibom State NDDC Commissioner, Apostle Abasiandikan Nkono, commended Eket council chairman, Rt. Hon. Akan Tommey, for initiating projects in Eket and urged all party men and women to support him to succeed.
Nkono, described Gov. Umo Eno as a caring governor with humility and love, saying the governor’s development is across all sectors, from tourism, agriculture, health, and others, noting that the governor has embarked on projects like the international hospital, resort centre, housing projects, etc., that require time to complete, urging unalloyed support for the governor for his re-election.
He encouraged Ikot Ekpene senatorial district to re-elect Senator Godswill Akpabio and President Tinubu in 2027.
“Gov. Umo Eno has done well in all sectors. As political activities commence next year, we need to support him to continue in office till 2031. We have people from Ikot Ekpene senatorial district who are living in Eket. Some are our friends and associates. We need to encourage and support them to re-elect Senator Godswill Akpabio. Where I’m today was made possible by Senator Godswill Akpabio. He has ensured Akwa Ibom people are in many agencies, commissions, and ministries. He deserves to be re-elected, likewise President Bola Tinubu, whose economic policies, like the removal of fuel, are crashing the fuel pump price.”
In his remarks, Eket council chairman, Rt. Hon. Akan Tommey, applauded the party structure in Eket and pledged to ensure the facelift of the chapter office and urged all to work harmoniously, adding that all elected and appointees’ of government are in APC to support Gov. Umo Eno, President Tinubu, and the party to succeed.
He commended Gov. Umo Eno for his infrastructural renaissance in the state and solicited support for the Governor and President Tinubu.
“We are here in the chapter office of our party to familiarize ourselves and celebrate Christmas with the structure of our party. I thank the party executive members for their resilience and commitment. We are going to see to the facelift of the chapter office, work for the 2nd term of Pastor Umo Eno, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This season is for love and giving. We are here to give to the party and solicit support for His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno PhD.”
The meeting was attended by chapter officers, ward chairmen, ward executive officers, stakeholders- Pastor Victor Edon, Bishop E.E. Etteh, Dr. Judith Mayen Ogbara Etuk, Hon. Kufre Sam, Hon. Tony Ikott, Mr. Peter Alex Edohoeket, Hon. Charles Edoho, Mr. Kingsley Ndedu among others, and witnessed the presentation of edible items and cash to chapter and ward executive members.
