MINISTRY OF INFORMATION GETS NEW DIRECTOR OF INFORMATION AND PUBLIC COMMUNICATION

MEDIA RELEASE

The Honourable Commissioner for Information, Akwa Ibom State, has approved the redeployment of Ms. Helen John Udofa, a member of the Senior Management Staff of the Akwa Ibom State Newspaper Corporation, to the Ministry of Information as Director of Information and Public Communication.

The redeployment follows the retirement of the immediate past Director of Information and Public Communication, Mr. Aniekan Ukpong, from the State Civil Service.

Until her redeployment, Ms. Udofa served as the first female Editor (Daily) and Head of the Editorial Department of The Pioneer, the flagship publication of the Akwa Ibom State Newspaper Corporation. A seasoned journalist and media professional, she holds a postgraduate degree in Mass Communication and a first degree in Communication Arts/English. She has participated in several local and international journalism conferences and is a member of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), African Women in the Media (AWiM), and the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ). She is also a former National Secretary of NAWOJ.

According to a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Akparawa James Edet, the redeployment takes immediate effect.

The statement expressed confidence that Ms. Udofa would bring her wealth of experience, professionalism, and commitment to bear in the effective discharge of her responsibilities.
