GOVERNOR ENO CONDOLES THE FAMILY OF LATE BRIG. GEN. ETUKUDOH

…says late General served Akwa Ibom and Nigeria with distinction

Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, has commiserated with the family of Late Brigadier General Anthony Daniel Etukudoh (Rtd).

Governor Eno conveyed his condolence in a message delivered on his behalf by the Deputy Governor, Senator (Dr) Akon Eyakenyi, at the funeral service conducted by St. Gregory’s Catholic Parish, Ikot Ebok, Eket Local Government Area on Friday, 16th October, 2026.

The Governor described the passing of the late General as a painful loss, not only to the immediate family but also to Akwa Ibom State, and the nation, saying he served Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria with distinction.

He described the deceased as a distinguished military officer, a respected businessman and a proud son of Akwa Ibom State, whose contributions to national service will remain worthy of remembrance.

“While his departure has undoubtedly created a painful void, I pray that the memories of his life, his accomplishments and the values he stood for will remain a source of comfort and strength to his family and all,” the Governor stated.

In his homily, the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Isidore Akpan, urged Christians to live purposefully, noting that death remains certain for every human being regardless of status, wealth, or achievement.

Preaching on the theme, “Remember That You Will Die,” with text taken from Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, the cleric described death as a transition from earthly life to eternity, stressing that what matters is not how long a person lived but whether the life was used to serve God and humanity.

He praised late Brig. Gen. Anthony Etukudoh for his commitment to family, church, community service and profession, describing him as a man whose life was a testament of a true Christian worthy of emulation.

Fr. Akpan consoled the family and the church, urging them to find strength in God rather than in grief, and called on mourners to reflect on their own lives and make peace with God while they still have the opportunity.

The funeral Mass, which featured prayers for the departed, was attended by members of the State Executive Council, the clergy, family members, officers of the Nigerian Military, community leaders, friends and organisations.
