Police Arrest Two Suspected Cultists, Recover Firearm and Ammunition in Eket

Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have arrested two suspected cultists during a raid on a hotel in Ikot-Udota, Eket Local Government Area.

The operation, according to the Command’s PRO, DSP Timfon John was based on credible intelligence which led to the recovery of a Beretta pistol with three rounds of 9mm ammunition, a laptop, two Android phones, an MTN internet router, suspected drug concoctions, and three copies of power-of-attorney believed to be stolen.

The suspects, identified as Uwemedimo Michael Udah, 29, from Uyo LGA, and Prince Emmanuel Amasi-Tito, 32, from Eleme LGA, Rivers State, were apprehended following reports that expelled students and dropouts from an unnamed institution had formed criminal gangs involved in extortion, rape, and cybercrime.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the gang is allegedly led by Etieno Gideon James and another suspect known as “Ale,” both of whom remain at large. The police are intensifying efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
