5 phones, 22 wristwatches, cash prizes won at WGBC Father’s Day/Men’s Convention

The 2026 edition of Father’s Day/Men’s Convention at Word of Grace Bible Church, Eket came with lots of packages as 5 members won smart phones, 22 won wristwatches while cash prizes ranging from N50,000, N40,000, N20,000, etc, were presented to others in different categories.

Winners of the smart phones, wristwatches and cash prizes, were selected through a raffle draw and other competitive games.

In his exhortation, the lead Pastor of Word of Grace Bible Church, Pastor George Umana, speaking on the theme of the Convention: “Built to Lead, Called to Serve,” stated that the reason why we exist is because of fathers, as such they should be celebrated and honoured.

“We are here to celebrate and honour fathers. We all existed because of fathers,” Umana stated.

Speaking further, Umana emphasized that fatherhood reflect the nature and character of God, as no father can function well without God.

While commending women for their supporting role to their husband, he advised them not to cause division between their husband and children for pecuniary purposes, warning that such action comes with dire consequences.

The Women of Grace Fellowship in their presentation, discussed the need to domesticate the boy child, emphasizing that the boy child should be given equal attention and treatment at home as the girl child for proper upbringing.

In his remarks, the President, Men of Grace Fellowship, Mr. Samuel Umoffia, appreciated Men of Grace for their steadfastness and commitment towards the success of the Convention and growth of the Fellowship, describing them as dependable family that is driven by unity of purpose.

He thanked Pastor George Umana and wife, Pastor Mrs Helen Umana, for their continuous support and encouragement which has contributed immensely to the success of Men’s Convention 2026. He further extended warm appreciation to the Women of Grace Fellowship for always lending their moral support to the Men, urging them not to relent as their gesture will be reciprocated.

Umoffia further highlighted the assignments expected of a father to include: ability to provide, ability to protect, ability to mentor and protect growth, and ability to create structures for continuity.

Earlier, in his charge, Mr. Elvis Attai, encouraged fathers to show compassion in their leadership role by serving others intentionally. Taking his text from 1 Peter 1:3, Attai stressed that, “God has given us everything pertaining to life and godliness,” urging those in position of authority to always prioritize service to others above self.

The event featured praise and worship session, song presentation, talk show and cutting of cake.

The 2026 Men’s Convention commenced on Saturday 20th June, 2026 with a fun-filled picnic volleyball game between Men of Grace and Women of Grace Fellowship at Ibeno Beach.
