33 MKPAT ENIN YOUTHS RECEIVE MOTORCYCLES AS ENGR. INYANG UNVEILS ₦150M EMPOWERMENT
Thirty-three less-privileged youths from the four clans of Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State have received brand-new motorcycles to boost their businesses, mobility and economic activities in the grassroots.
The beneficiaries received the motorcycles on Wednesday during the second anniversary of the administration of the Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. (Engr.) Emmanuel John Inyang, and the launch of ₦150 million “EMMANCIPATION” Empowerment Programme held at the Obong Richard Umoren Stadium, Mkpat Enin.
Presenting the items, Engr. Inyang said the intervention was to move beyond financial assistance by providing beneficiaries with practical tools capable of supporting sustainable livelihoods.
He said young people remained at the centre of his administration’s development agenda, stressing that empowering them was critical to the economic future of Mkpat Enin.
The chairman explained that the ₦150 million programme builds on the administration’s ₦100 million empowerment intervention in its first year, through which beneficiaries received various forms of support and starter kits.
The chairman also highlighted the administration’s investment in skills development, revealing that ₦10 million had been committed to sponsoring Mkpat Enin indigenes for skills acquisition under DAKADA initiative.
“Our vision from the beginning has been simple: to build a Mkpat Enin where infrastructure supports development, education opens doors, young people have opportunities, vulnerable people receive support, and every community feels the presence of government.”
“For the 33 beneficiaries, the motorcycles represent more than means of transportation. They are productive assets that can provide mobility, support businesses and create new income opportunities.” Engr. Inyang said.
