MEDIA PROFESSIONALS TACKLE NIGERIA POLICE IN NOVELTY FOOTBALL MATCH

In its avowed commitment to foster unity, build collaboration and strengthen strategic engagement and partnership with relevant stakeholders and authorities, the Eket Federal Constituency Media Professionals, EFCMP yesterday, September 12, 2026, engaged the Nigeria Police Force, Eket Area Command in a Novelty Football match that showcased the best of football talents and skills among media professionals and the security agency.

The match which commenced at exactly 4.30pm on the dot at Eket Township Stadium, had the presence of the Executive Chairman of Ibeno Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs. Glory Effiong Ekah as the Guest of Honour who performed the kickoff through her representative, Hon. Ikpe Ebrewong Ikpe, who is the Dean of Supervisors in Ibeno Executive Council.

The first half of the crucial encounter was dominated by the Police Team with long passes, dribbling prowess and counter attack, which earned them a lone goal at the first 45 minutes of the game, but the Media Team launched an impressive defensive to stop the more flexible Police attackers with saves by the Media Team gaffe, who proved himself a reliable and more dependable stopper.

The second half of the match witnessed both team displayed their dribbling artistry, ball possession and control, passes accuracy and attempts at goal. But few minutes to the end of the match, the Media Team were able to find the back of the net of the Police Team which ended the match at one goal apiece.

The friendly football match between Eket Federal Constituency Media Professionals and the Nigeria Police Force has further proves that the media and the police are partners in aiding democratic governance and public trust and safety. It further reinforces collaboration among professionals to achieve set goals.

In attendance were the Eket Area Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Ahiwa Abubakar Ribadu, DPO of Eket Police Division, CSP Nelly Matis Nyeche, DPO of Ibeno Police Division, CSP Felix Ekpoudom, DPO of Ikot Abasi Police Division, CSP Victor Ezekwu, DPO of Ikot Udota Police Division, CSP Godwin James, DPO ONNA Division, CSP Victor Thompson, and other ranking officers of the NPF, football fans, among others.

Meanwhile, the Media Team was led by the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on Research and Documentation, Dr. Essien Ndueso while the Public Relations Officer (PRO) at Federal Polytechnic, Ngodo Isuochi, Abia State, Mr. Melford Asuquo, served as the Head Coach.

The Media Team were given strong home support with the likes of CEO of Bubbles News, Mr. Dan Edon, who entertained the team with some oldies, while our Chairman, Comrade Enobong Nsima, supported by our hardworking Secretary, Mr. Ifiok Itiaba, our cheer leader and fan base, Peace Etop, Imaobong Umoekah, and Brass Band made the event very exciting and memorable.
