Akpabio, Barau, Lalong & Senate Delegation Comfort Senator Diket Plang As His Wife Is Laid To Rest

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, his Deputy Barau Jibrin, Chairman Committee on Electoral Matters and Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District Simon Bako Lalong on Friday 25th July 2025 led a delegation from the red Chambers to Jos to pay last respects to the wife of their colleague Late Prof. Janet Diket Plang as she was laid to rest.

The Senate delegation attended the funeral service at the Headquarters of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Jos, Plateau State.

While comforting with Senator Diket Plang and the people of Plateau State, Akpabio said the entire Senate is also grieving over the loss of Prof. Janet Plang who was instrumental to the successes of her husband at various times including the Senate where he is doing well to enhance good governance through legislative action.

The Senate President said although the death of Mrs Plang was painful, the will of God must prevail as he has destined human beings to die.

He however said the death should not be a matter of sorrow because there is a lot to celebrate about her contributions to the family, Plateau South, Plateau State and Nigeria at large.

On behalf of the Senate and the entire national assembly, Akpabio expressed the sympathy of the national Legislature to the Diket Plang family and the entire people of Plateau State.

Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District Simon Bako Lalong who had earlier led a delegation to condole with Senator Plang said the testimony and legacies left behind by the deceased will continue to inspire the children and others to do more to society.

Lalong said many mentees of the late Professor of Sociology are already making their marks in various fields in and outside Nigeria.

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang described the death of Prof. Janet Diket Plang as a big loss to the people of Takas, Pankshin Local Government, Plateau Central and the entire state.

COCIN President Rev. Dr. Amos Mohzo said death is ordained by God for every human being, but those who die in Christ have nothing to fear as they have assurance of eternity.

Senator Diket Plang expressed appreciation to the President of the Senate and his colleagues as well as thousands of sympathisers who have shown uncommon love and compassion to him and his family.
