EFCMP Commiserates with Colleague over husband’s demise

Members of Eket Federal Constituency Media Professionals, EFCMP, yesterday, in their large numbers, converged at QIC Primary School, Esit Urua in Eket Local Government Area to sympathize with one of their colleagues, Mrs. Peace Etop Obiofia, at the obsequies of her husband, Late Emem Etop Emmanuel.

Leading members of EFCMP to the event was the forum Chairman, Comrade Enobong Nsima. Others in attendance was the Board of Trustees (BoT) Secretary, Comrade Mfon Bassey, Publicity Secretary, Mr. Ubong Itama, Publisher of Bubbles News, Mr. Daniel Edon, Mrs. Emem Gbenga, Publisher of Newsline9ja, Comrade Unwana Assam, Mr. Joseph Ekong, and Imaobong Umoekah.

Others are Edifon Edoho, Nsikan John, CEO of Eket TV Network, Edwin Atang, Alloysius Ntakpo, Ubong Creativity David and spouse, Nsikan Etebia, among others.

The obsequies was conducted by The Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Greater Work Zone, Akwa Ibom Province 12, Eket and coordinated by PICP Province 12, Pastor Thaddeus Adeyemi and PICP (CSR), Pastor Godwin Ukwat.

The event attracted dignitaries across the State including Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mkpisong Frank Archibong, former AKISIEC Chairman, Elder Aniedi Ikoiwak, former Member representing Abak Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ekon, Vice Chairman of Ibeno Local Government Area, Pharm. Ukpong, Former Chairman of Eket Local Government Area, Chief Aniekan Akpan, APC Senatorial District Vice Chairman, Mr. Victor Edon, Seplat Manager, Mr. Uwem Uquang, SSA to the Governor, Pastor Godwin Ukwat, Mr. Rockyfellar Nsudoh, the political class, office holders, among others.

According to record, Late Emem Etop Emmanuel was born in 1968 into the Royal Family of Late Apostle Etop Emmanuel of Esit Urua in Eket Local Government Area and Late Mrs. Mary Etop Emmanuel of Iwukem in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area respectively.

He completed his secondary education and obtained his West African Examination Council (WAEC) and started his working as a Rigger with Global Drilling Company but later advanced to become an Offshore Crane Operator.

Late Emem Etop lived a social life which endeared him to many friends and admirers. He succumbed to the cool hands of death after a protracted illness. He is survived by children, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters, and other relatives to mourn his death.

In a related development, members of the forum gathered at Redwood Bar by Eket Stadium to bare their minds on upcoming events and shared some glasses of water after the funeral service of Late Emem Etop Emmanuel.

During the conversation, the Chairman, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Eket Branch, Barr. Peter Ime Akpan, commended Eket Federal Constituency Media Professionals for their professionalism in information dissemination and for honouring their invitation to a novel football match during their Bar Week, considering to meet again for another showdown.

He further assured that NBA Eket Branch will continue to collaborate with EFCMP to champion genuine causes.

At the gathering, Mr. Nsikan Etebia officially invited the forum to his wedding coming up by September 20th, 2026 while Imaobong Umoekah also ceased the opportunity to invite the forum to her parents 50th Marriage Anniversary.
