EFCMP ENGAGES IBENO DPO, CSP FELIX EKPOUDOM, ON STRATEGIC SECURITY–MEDIA SYNERGY

seeks collaboration to establish Security–Media Liaison Desk

The Eket Federal Constituency Media Professionals (EFCMP) on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to CSP Felix Ekpoudom, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), at the Ibeno Divisional Police Station in Ibeno Local Government Area.

The visit, led by the Forum Chairman, Comrade Enobong Nsimah, was aimed at fostering synergy between the security agencies and media professionals in the area.

Speaking during the visit, the Forum Chairman expressed satisfaction with the officers of the Ibeno Divisional Police Headquarters for their efforts in ensuring that the crime rate in the area has drastically reduced.

Nsimah, however, called on the DPO, CSP Felix Ekpoudom, to establish a Security–Media Liaison Desk—a platform that would provide media professionals with access to timely, first-hand and verified information on security and crime-related matters.

He noted that, as media professionals and influencers, it is against the ethics of the profession to disseminate unverified information.

CSP Felix Ekpoudom, who spoke on behalf of the officers of the Division, commended the Forum for being intentional about the responsible management of information meant for the public domain.

The DPO highlighted the achievements of the Division and the mechanisms put in place to control the rate of crime in the area. On crime prevention, he noted that his men had been actively patrolling the nooks and crannies of the entire LGA to ensure that the area, despite its riverine nature, does not harbour individuals operating above the law.

Speaking on the relative peace and security in the area, CSP Ekpoudom described Ibeno LGA as “a place to be” and appealed to members of the public to disregard rumours portraying the area as violent or hostile.

Earlier, Chief Daniel Edon, Publisher and CEO of Bubble Newspaper, alongside Comrade Unwana Assam, commended CSP Felix Ekpoudom and other officers of the Division for deploying their expertise and professionalism towards maintaining the peace currently enjoyed in the area and neighbouring communities.

They appealed to the officers to ensure that media professionals are adequately protected and granted unhindered access to carry out their legitimate professional duties, while also urging the media to continue disseminating balanced and responsible information that promotes public confidence in the Police and supports the efforts of the security agencies.
