Former President Goodluck Jonathan arrives Gambia for Inaugural Sahel Governance Forum

Former President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, has arrived Banjul, the capital city of The Gambia ahead of the Inaugural Sahel Governance Forum on the Theme: The Future of Governance: (Re)building Social Cohesion and Public Trust.”

Jonathan made the disclosure in a post on his verified Facebook page. He wrote:

“Ahead of Wednesday’s opening of the Inaugural Sahel Governance Forum, billed to hold on July 30-31 2025 in The Gambia, we arrived in Banjul this evening to join many other political leaders, policymakers, civil society representatives and development partners from across Africa and the world, who have gathered for this historic event.

“The two-day conference with the theme “The Future of Governance: (Re)building Social Cohesion and Public Trust”, is convened by the Government of the Republic of The Gambia, in collaboration with the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation (GJF) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

“I wish the participants fruitful deliberations as they explore ways of strengthening citizen trust, deepening political transitions and improving governance in the Sahel.
