I SIMPLY WANT TO DO WHAT I CAN AND SUPPORT THE PEOPLE I AM ABLE TO SUPPORT — MICHAEL ABAKAM

As political activities continue to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, a business mogul, politician and philanthropist, Engr. Michael Abakam, has declared that his focus remains on supporting the people and contributing positively to society, irrespective of political considerations.

Abakam stated this while interacting with newsmen, where he spoke on his personal commitment to community development, humanitarian support and initiatives aimed at improving the lives of the people.

He noted that the prevailing political atmosphere demands maturity and careful consideration, given that individuals are increasingly aligning themselves with different political interests and candidates.

According to him, politics should not become a barrier to genuine efforts aimed at supporting people and making a positive difference in society.

“At this point, I am no longer bothered by or particularly interested in politics. I simply want to do what I can and support the people I am able to support,” Abakam said.

He stressed that his interest is in initiatives that are beneficial, impactful and capable of producing tangible results in the lives of ordinary people.

“I look forward to welcoming ideas from people that will be beneficial, impactful and genuinely make a difference in the lives of our people,” he added.

While speaking on the political season, Abakam also reaffirmed his commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and pledged his support for the party’s candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.

He said his support would extend across the ballot, from the presidential candidate to candidates contesting for the National Assembly and State House of Assembly, stressing the importance of collective support for candidates of the party.

He maintained that supporting the party’s candidates should not diminish the importance of humanitarian and community-oriented activities, noting that political participation and service to humanity can coexist.

The philanthropist maintained that his commitment to humanity goes beyond political seasons, noting that the needs of the people remain constant even when political circumstances change.

He said he would continue to do his best within his capacity to support people and contribute to causes that bring relief, encouragement and opportunities to others.

Abakam also reaffirmed the philosophy behind his widely recognised slogan, “I Win, You Win,” describing it as more than a political expression.

“I will always do my best and the ‘I Win, You Win’ slogan will always reflect who we are; politics or no politics,” he stated.

For Abakam, political seasons will come and go, but the responsibility to care for people, support those in need and contribute to community development should remain constant.

His position, therefore, reflects a dual commitment: active participation in the political process while maintaining a strong focus on humanitarian service and the welfare of the people.
