Nigeria’s Secret Police DSS Dismisses 115 Personnel Over Unscrupulous Activities

‎The Department of State Services (DSS) has announced the dismissal of 115 personnel from service, citing “unscrupulous activities” by the dismissed personnel.

‎‎In a statement released on Tuesday evening, the agency warned the public to avoid official dealings with the dismissed personnel, some of whom may still be posing as legitimate DSS operatives.

‎‎The DSS emphasised that the dismissals are part of an ongoing internal reform initiative aimed at purging the organisation of misconduct and fraudulent activities.

‎‎”The Service finds it necessary to warn citizens of the fraudulent activities of some of these persons still posing as DSS personnel,” the statement shared on its X handle read.

‎‎”For the sake of clarity, the identities of the dismissed personnel have been published on the website of the Service (dss.gov.ng).

‎‎This move aligns with broader governmental efforts to enforce accountability within the security apparatus.

‎‎The DSS had earlier warned the public about two dismissed officers, Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, who were alleged to be utilising their former positions to engage in fraudulent activities.

The agency confirmed that both individuals had been apprehended and are set to face prosecution.
