President Bola Tinubu has approved full disbursement of allowances, match bonuses

According to Vanguard News, President Bola Tinubu has approved the full disbursement of allowances and match bonuses to the Super Falcons as they gear up for their final match against Morocco in the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The directive comes as a morale booster for the team, which has impressed fans and analysts alike with their spirited performances throughout the tournament.

According to the presidency, the payment covers all outstanding entitlements and is aimed at ensuring the players remain focused ahead of the crucial encounter.

In a statement released on Thursday, President Tinubu commended the team for their determination and unity, saying, “The Super Falcons have shown resilience, strength, and patriotism in representing Nigeria on the continental stage. They deserve our full support, and I have directed that all financial commitments due to them be paid without delay.”

He emphasized that rewarding excellence is part of his administration’s commitment to promoting sports development and national pride.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) also confirmed the release of funds, stating that the players and technical crew have been notified.

An NFF official noted, “We received the president’s directive with gratitude. The funds are being processed, and the team will receive everything before the final.” The development has sparked excitement within the camp, with players expressing appreciation for the timely intervention.

One of the senior players said, “It means a lot to know the president is behind us. We are going to give everything on the pitch.”

The move is seen as a departure from past controversies surrounding unpaid bonuses and allowances that often distracted Nigerian teams before major games.

A sports analyst, David Aina, remarked, “This is a welcome change. It sets a new standard in how we treat our athletes, especially when they are doing the nation proud.”

With the final against Morocco just days away, the financial backing is expected to serve as a strong motivation. President Tinubu concluded, “Let them know that 200 million Nigerians are cheering them on. We believe in them, and we are proud of them.”
