Reaffirming his administrationโ€™s resolve to deliver infrastructure with quality, speed and sustainability, Governor Umo Eno, on Thursday flagged off a two-day inspection tour of major projects under construction across the state.

The governorโ€™s itinerary for the first day of the tour took him to strategic sites in Ikono, Ibiono Ibom, Itu and Uyo local government areas, where work is ongoing on social, health, transport, commercial and flood control facilities.

At Ikono/Ibiono, the State Chief Executive inspected the ARISE Senior Citizens Centre, a purpose-built facility designed to cater for the welfare, recreation and healthcare of the elderly.

The project, which will also feature dedicated medical units, has been earmarked for future expansion with additional land already identified to accommodate more services. Operational manuals, safety protocols and staff recruitment plans are also being developed to ensure smooth take-off.

From there, the Governor moved to Itu LGA where the CNG Bus Terminal at Odiok Itam is steadily taking shape as part of the stateโ€™s push for cleaner energy in public transportation. He also visited the ongoing flood control project in the area, a crucial intervention aimed at protecting homes, roads and farmlands from perennial water damage.

The inspection continued in Uyo, where Governor Eno assessed progress on the Uyo Village Road construction, the Judiciary Officers Quarters at Ring Road III, and the International Convention Centre, an emerging hub for conferences and events. He also toured the ARISE Shopping City, which is set to boost commerce and create jobs for thousands of residents.

Health infrastructure featured prominently on the inspection schedule, with stops at the Ibom Medical City and the Ibom International Hospital. At the Medical City, road and infrastructure works are being accelerated to meet delivery timelines, while at the hospital site, clearing and foundational works are paving the way for a world-class facility that will strengthen the stateโ€™s medical tourism drive.

The inspection exercise, which will continue tomorrow, Friday, is part of the governorโ€™s practical approach to governance, ensuring that contractors keep to deadlines and that projects are executed to specifications for the benefit of all Akwa Ibom people.
