I SEE A BRIGHT FUTURE FOR AKWA IBOM – GOV ENO

… appeals to Oron elders, youth to give Ibom Deep Seaport a chance

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has declared a very bright future for the State, given the numerous impactful projects currently at different stages of completion across the State.

At the June edition of Government House Monthly Prayer Service, held at the latter House Chapel, Government House, Uyo, the Governor highlighted some of the audacious projects to include the Ibom Medical Village, aviation development, State CNG modern transportation system, equipped with modern facilities and the good road network across the State.

He noted that at completion, these projects will boost tourism, create job opportunities and enhance economic growth in the State.

“I see a very bright future for our State, I see it, don’t mind naysayers. Just under two years, all these things will make more sense.

“On Tuesday June 23, 2026, we are unveiling one of our audacious projects. We have created the Ibom Medical Village, and what the Government is doing is a 350-bed international Medical Centre. It is an audacious project. The work has started and we want people to know about it.

“Very soon, our State’s CNG buses will arrive. I am told 20 is ready. We ordered and fully paid for 50. 20 are already at the Lagos port. We are building bus terminal with a workshop to engage and train drivers. About September or October, the bus terminal should be ready,” he said.

The Governor urged everyone to shun negative biases, destructive criticism and join hands with the government in the push towards actualising the Akwa Ibom project.

On the Ibom Deep Seaport project, the State Chief Executive appealed to Oro elders and stakeholders on the need to unite and advise the youth of the area to give peace a chance by allowing investors interested in the project to make progress.

“I am appealing to our fathers from Oron axis, this is your chance. Don’t miss this moment. I beg you. Seize this moment, talk to the youth and everyone, and beg them to allow the Ibom Deep Seaport to be cited at where God wants it to be. As you can see, the Oron Maritime project is almost completed. I met a road that has been there for twelve years, and that road is finished now.

“I am begging now because it is the chance of Oro nation. There is nothing to fight about,” he said.

He made reference to the Victor Attah International Airport popularly referred to as Uyo Airport, saying that Uyo does not have any plot of land in any of the circumference of the airport, yet none of the local government areas with lands donated for the airport has caused any issue over the naming of the airport, in enlightened State interest.

“Please let our brothers understand. This has happened before and that led to the delay of the seaport project, which we are about to kickstart now. We need the investors,” he said.

He also disclosed plans to integrate village youth presidents into the State’s security architecture to enhance effective security management, and announced a meeting with all youth presidents in the state’s gazetted villages on Sunday June 21, 2026.

“The reason is simple. We must take security seriously as a State. We must be proactive. The security situation in the country demands that all State Governors become very proactive,” he added.

He urged Christians across the State to continually pray for the peace, and development of the State.

Preaching on the theme, “The God of Awesome Wonders,” Rev. Victor Akpan, the Uyo Axis Coordinator of
Foursquare Gospel Church, admonished Christians to continually believe and look unto God whom he said is still in the business of performing wonders.
