HENSEK CEO CHALLENGES ENTREPRENEURS TO TURN LIMITATIONS TO OPPORTUNITIES
Yesterday, October 28, 2026, our MD/CEO at Hensek Integrated Services, Engr. Uwem Okoko, was one of the resource persons who impacted on Akwa Ibom young minds converged at Ibom Hall, Uyo, for the Ibom Ignite Conference 2026.
Engr. Okoko who spoke on the topic: “Building Beyond Boundaries: A Mindset for Sustainable Enterprise and Opportunity”, delivered a mindblowing lecture with a focus on challenging limiting mindsets, building sustainable enterprises, identifying opportunities, and taking calculated risks for long-term growth and development.
The Fellow, Nigerian Society of Engineers emphasised that the first boundary individuals must overcome is often the one in their minds; encouraged participants to embrace a mindset anchored in belief, continuous learning, and decisive action, while recognising that as much as financial constraint appeaers to be the most prominent in the list, fear of failure is actually the biggest in the list of challenges to personal and business growth.
The central message of Engr. Okoko’s lecture was the need to transform limitations into practical plans and opportunities. with examples from the HENSEK JOURNEY AND EXPERIENCE OF INSTILLING A WORLD-CLASS SPIRIT INTO AN INDIGENOUS COMPANY, participants were encouraged to start with available resources, learn from setbacks, seek mentorship, build relevant skills, and connect local insights to wider markets.
The civil engineering expert also highlighted the importance of building sustainable enterprises through high standards, integrity, customer satisfaction, accountability, and continuous improvement, stressing that a world-class enterprise is not necessarily defined by its size but by its reliability, quality of service, ability to keep promises, and commitment to delivering measurable value.
On opportunity creation, our CEO underscored the importance of identifying real problems, testing practical solutions, building effective teams, and establishing systems that support sustainable growth. He further highlighted the role of leadership in motivating people, communicating clear expectations, developing talent, and maintaining a culture of fairness and accountability.
Addressing risk-taking, he advocated informed decision-making over reckless experimentation, while encouraging entrepreneurs and aspiring business leaders to research opportunities, assess potential risks and benefits, begin with manageable experiments, and establish contingency plans before making significant commitments.
He rounded off his session with a practical 30-day action framework designed to move participants from inspiration to implementation. The framework encouraged individuals to identify a problem worth solving, engage potential customers or partners, test a small solution, evaluate the results, and plan the next stage of development.
The overarching message of Building Beyond Boundaries was clear: think bigger, build better, and create lasting value. It challenged individuals to look beyond present limitations and translate their ambitions into practical, measurable progress.
The presentation reaffirmed the importance of a growth-oriented mindset, sustainable enterprise development, responsible leadership, and calculated risk-taking as essential pathways to creating opportunities and building lasting value.
