The serene environment of Ebighe Okpono Village in Esit Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State was agog as Miss Esther Bassey Etim was joined together in a traditional marriage with Eket foremost traditionalist, ObongEkid Edidem Mbre.

The colourful ceremony held on Saturday, June 19, 2026, was attended by the political class, community leaders, chiefs, women, and socio-cultural groups.

Among dignitaries that graced the event are the Clan Head of Ebighe, His Eminence, Obongisong Assam, Eket born hotelier, Amb. David Mbre, Managing Director of Javic Jasouth Nigeria Ltd, Mr. James Akpan, Eket born businessman, Mr. Tommey Tommey, CEO of Power View Hotel, Mr. Solomon Mbre, Mr. Edoho Tommey, Daniel Tommey, Kingsley Tommey, and Joseph Etangkanga.

Others in attendance are Eket based business woman, Mrs. Margaret Jones aka Mma Ikpa, Councillor representing Ward 3 Central, Hon. Mercy Ekpe, Councillor representing Ward 2 Urban, Hon. Johnson Esenowo, Supervisor for Education in Eket Local Government Area, Elder Daniel Sampson, Chief Friday Paul, among others.

The climax of the event was performing of marital rites by the couple, cultural display by Ekpe society, dance group, while prayers was offered for the success of the marriage.
