Abuja: How Man Who Took Married Woman To Hotel Was Found Dead Under Bridge

What happened inside a guest house in Gwarimpa before a man’s body ended up beneath a bridge in Abuja is now the subject of a police investigation.

The case began as a missing-person report.

The man had disappeared, leaving his family searching for answers. Days later, his lifeless body was discovered under the Katampe Bridge along the Kubwa Expressway.

At first, the circumstances surrounding the discovery sparked speculation that he might have been the victim of kidnapping or a so-called “one chance” robbery.

But according to the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, investigators eventually uncovered a different trail — one that led from the missing man’s phone to a woman in Garki Area 2 and, later, to a guest house in Gwarimpa.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Sanusi, disclosed the details on Saturday, September 26, 2026, while briefing journalists at the Command headquarters in Abuja.

According to the commissioner, investigators identified the body as that of the man whose family had earlier reported him missing.

One of the most important clues was not found at the scene where his body was discovered.

It was his mobile phone.

The device was missing, and investigators began working to establish where it had last been used and who had been in contact with the deceased before his disappearance.

Although the phone had already been switched off, police were able to trace the man’s final known communication to Mrs Rukayat Muhammed, who lives in Garki Area 2, Abuja.

Further inquiries reportedly revealed that Muhammed was a married woman who had been in a romantic relationship with the deceased.

Investigators also discovered that she had saved the man’s number under the name “Safiyat.”

That discovery eventually took investigators to Good Samaritan Guest House on Second Avenue in Gwarimpa.

Police said the deceased and Muhammed had lodged at the guest house.

It was there, according to the police account, that the situation took a disturbing turn.

The commissioner said Muhammed discovered that the man was no longer breathing.

Instead of contacting the police or immediately reporting what had happened, she allegedly left the guest house carrying his mobile phone.

What happened afterward would only become known when hotel workers eventually entered the room.

Several hours passed.

Hotel management reportedly attempted to reach the occupants but could not establish contact. When staff eventually accessed the room, they found the man’s body inside.

At that point, rather than reporting the discovery to the police, two members of the hotel management — identified as Ibrahim Omeiza and Kefat Bitrus — allegedly moved the body out of the guest house.

Police said the two men transported the body to the Kubwa Expressway, near Katampe.

There, beneath the bridge, the body was abandoned by the roadside.
It was this discovery that brought the case into public attention.

However, one major question remains unanswered: what actually caused the man’s death?

The police have not established that yet.

Commissioner Sanusi stressed that the investigation is still ongoing and that the circumstances surrounding the man’s death have not been conclusively determined.

This distinction is important because the discovery of a body, the removal of that body and the circumstances leading to the death are separate issues that investigators still have to piece together.

The police are now working to establish exactly what happened inside the guest house, what occurred before the man’s death, and the roles played by the people who came into contact with him afterward.

Sanusi said anyone eventually found to have been involved in the man’s death, or in concealing and abandoning his body, would face legal consequences.

For investigators, the case has therefore moved beyond the initial assumption of a possible kidnapping or roadside robbery.

The man’s final phone activity has opened a trail leading to a guest house, a woman he reportedly knew intimately, and two hotel workers who allegedly became involved after his body was discovered.

But until the investigation establishes how the man died, the most important part of the mystery remains unanswered.

His family initially wanted to know where he had gone.

Now, investigators are trying to determine what happened during his final hours — and how a man who was last traced to a guest house in Gwarimpa ended up dead beneath a bridge along the Kubwa Expressway.

The FCT Police Command says further investigative procedures are underway to establish the full facts of the case.
