A’IBOM ROYAL FATHERS TOUR SENIOR CITIZENS CENTRE, EXPRESS SUPPORT FOR GOV ENO’S SECOND TERM

Akwa Ibom royal fathers on Tuesday toured the Senior Citizens Centre, as part of the state’s 39th anniversary, commending Governor Umo Eno’s people-centred initiatives and expressing support for his second-term bid.

The Oku Ibom Ibibio and President-General of the Supreme Council of Akwa Ibom State Traditional Rulers, who is also the Paramount Ruler of Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, His Eminence Ntenyin (Dr.) Solomon Daniel Etuk, CFR, expressed delight at the standard and maintenance of the facility, describing it as “amazing” and urging its replication across the three senatorial districts and, where possible, the local government areas.

the Governor for promoting unity and development in the state.

Speaking for the three senatorial districts, the paramount rulers of Ibesikpo Asutan, Edidem III Clement Francis Ekpenyong; Okobo, HRM Edidem Okokon Ita; and Oruk Anam, HRM Akuku J.J. Obosi, praised the Governor for prioritising the welfare of senior citizens. They declared their support for the Governor’s re-election, and urged that the facility be protected and sustained for its intended purpose.

Earlier, the Delivery Advisor to the Governor, Dr. Itanwan James, who led the royal fathers on a tour of the facility, said the centre was designed to provide senior citizens with opportunities for relaxation, wellness, recreation and social interaction. She listed the facilities to include a gymnasium, library, primary healthcare centre, restaurant, kitchen, lounge, Art and Crafts Gallery, conference hall, laundry, dental and eye-care clinics, among others.

At a brief meeting with the royal fathers at the Traditional Rulers Council Chambers before the tour, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mkpisong Frank Archibong, described the centre as a top-notch initiative reflecting the Governor’s people-centred ARISE Agenda, while calling for continued support for his administration and policies.

The visit also featured a special health talk and dietary guidance for the royal fathers. The event was attended by the Secretary, Akwa Ibom State Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers, Emmanuel Umontuen, PhD; Mr. Mumini Eyo; management staff of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; and top management officials of the Senior Citizens Centre.
