Akwa Ibom State has taken a decisive step towards shaping a brighter future for its young people with the formal adoption of the Akwa Ibom Youth Policy and Youth Development Roadmap.
The milestone came today, 13th August 2025, at the close of a two-day High-Level Stakeholders’ Meeting for the Review and Validation of both frameworks.

Led by the Honourable Commissioner for Youth Development,Dr.Ekerette Ekanem, the highlight of the event was the signing of the communique and memorandum of adoption by the Ministry representatives and key stakeholders signaling a united resolve to expand opportunities for Akwa Ibom’s youth.
Addressing journalists after the signing, Dr. Ekanem reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to aligning youth programmes with the ARISE Agenda, global best practices, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In his closing remarks, he commended the unwavering participation of stakeholders and called for continued collaboration to ensure the roadmap is fully implemented.
The two-day engagement, held at D’Angelo Hotel, Uyo, was organised in partnership with the Clement Isong Foundation, ActionAid, and Youth Pride, as part of the 2025 United Nations International Youth Day celebration themed “Local Youth Actions for SDGs and Beyond.”
