Bishop Udonsek Urges Ministers to Overcome Crisis Through Faith and Perseverance

The Diocesan Bishop of Akwa Ibom State, Christ Army Church (GBC), Rt. Rev’d Dr. David E. Udonsek, has urged ministers of God to remain steadfast during seasons of crisis, stressing that challenges in ministry do not signal the end of a divine assignment.

The message, delivered during the Sunday service on September 13, 2026, by Evangelist (Mrs.) Idara Abundance, was themed “Victory Over Ministerial Crisis” with the sub-theme “Biblical Approaches to Overcoming Ministerial Crisis.” The sermon was based on 1 Samuel 30:1–8, with supporting texts from 2 Corinthians 4:8–9, Hebrews 12:15, and 2 Timothy 4:5.

Drawing lessons from the experience of David at Ziklag, the message highlighted that ministers may face opposition, disappointment, betrayal, criticism, and difficult seasons despite their divine calling. However, such challenges should not be mistaken for the absence of God or the end of their mission.

The sermon outlined four biblical principles for overcoming ministerial crises: returning to God as the ultimate source of strength and direction, seeking godly counsel, refusing to abandon one’s calling because of difficulties, and guarding against bitterness.

The message emphasized that leaders must avoid making major decisions based on anger, frustration, or pain, but should seek divine guidance and surround themselves with wise and spiritually mature advisers.

It also warned ministers against allowing criticism, rejection, or betrayal to create bitterness, noting that unresolved bitterness can affect their leadership and purpose.

Using David’s recovery at Ziklag as an example, the sermon encouraged ministers to remain faithful, declaring that crisis is only a season and not the conclusion of their story.

The message concluded with prayers for divine strength, wisdom, faithfulness, and freedom from bitterness, while encouraging ministers that through God’s help they can overcome challenges and fulfill their assignments
