Celebrate Unruly Behaviour, Punish Good Character

A nation that fails to celebrate its best and brightest will inevitably settle for mediocrity. Unfortunately, it seems we are headed down that path.
In our political landscape, we’ve witnessed the disturbing trend of glorifying individuals with questionable character. Political “gladiators” celebrate and reward those with a history of misconduct, while dedicated public servants are maligned and shamed.

This culture of celebrating mediocrity has now seeped into other areas of our society. Recently, an unruly airline passenger disrupted a flight, physically assaulted crew members, and is being celebrated by some. It’s a disturbing sign of the times.
If we continue down this path, we risk creating a society where bad behavior is not only tolerated but also encouraged. Imagine a scenario where a passenger storms the cockpit, orders the pilot out, and takes a selfie – only to be celebrated by the public.
As Bob Marley so aptly put it, “Emancipate yourself from mental slavery.” We must break free from this toxic mindset that celebrates incompetence and rewards bad behavior.
It’s time for us to rethink our values and prioritize excellence, integrity, and good character. Only then can we build a society that truly celebrates its best and brightest, and provides a brighter future for generations to come.
