Comrade Nsibiet John assumes office as 13th Chairman of NUJ, Akwa Ibom State Council
Earlier today, Comrade Nsibiet John officially assumed office as the 13th Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Akwa Ibom State Council.
In a brief but symbolic handover ceremony held at the NUJ Press Centre, Uyo, Comrade John pledged to uphold the ideals of ethical journalism, press freedom and the welfare of media practitioners in the State.
Flanked by members of the new executive council, the newly inaugurated Chairman expressed gratitude to members of the union for the confidence reposed in him.
He also outlined his vision for a more vibrant and united NUJ, anchored on capacity building, infrastructure development and improved welfare for journalists.
Comrade Nsibiet John succeeds Comrade Amos Etuk, who urged members to support the new leadership in the collective interest of the journalism profession.
