EFCMP Inspects Ongoing Remedial Work at Idua Road, Commends Gov Eno for Quick Response

In its avowed commitment to community development and the monitoring of projects executed across the four local government areas of Eket Federal Constituency, Eket, Esit Eket, Ibeno and ONNA, members of the Eket Federal Constituency Media Professionals (EFCMP) on Thursday, October 1, 2026, inspected the ongoing remedial work on a section of the collapsed Idua Road in Eket Local Government Area.

Leading some members of the forum to the project site, the Chairman, Comrade Enobong Nsimah, commended the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, PhD, for his swift response to the concerns raised by the forum over the condition of the road a few days ago.

Nsimah noted that the Governor’s intervention less than 48 hours after the forum raised the alarm over the road further demonstrated his commitment to protecting lives and property. The chairman also commended the executive chairman of Eket local government area, Hon. Akaninyene Tommey, for his swift response when he reached out to him over the condition of the place and decided to visit the site and ascertain the damage done there.

Nsimah equally commended Hensek Integrated Services Ltd. for its commitment to delivering time-bound projects in Akwa Ibom State, assuring the company of the forum’s maximum cooperation, as well as that of the youths in the area.

Recall that few days ago, members of the Eket Federal Constituency Media Professionals (EFCMP) observed cracks along Idua Road and raised concerns over the need for relevant authorities to intervene to avert any unforeseen circumstances. Barely two days after a section of the road caved in following torrential rainfall, the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, PhD, through the council Chairman, directed Hensek Integrated Services Ltd. to commence remedial work to contain the situation.

As of the time of filing this report, work was ongoing at the site, with the company assuring that it would deliver on its mandate.
