Engr Okon Edoho officially defects to APC with massive followers in Esit Eket

The wave of political realignment sweeping through Akwa Ibom State reached a crescendo yesterday in Ikpa Town, Esit Eket Local Government Area, as renowned grassroots mobilizer and philanthropist, Engr. (đť——đť—ż) Okon Enoch Edoho, officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Dr Edoho, a former chairmanship aspirant in the 2024 local government elections, led a large contingent of PDP members, including the Deputy Leader of the Esit Eket Legislature, Akparawa Micheal Alfred, into the APC fold.
In his remarks, Edoho attributed his defection to the visionary leadership of Governor Umo Eno, whose decision to align Akwa Ibom with the federal government, he said, signaled a new direction for inclusive development.
“It is obvious that we must follow our visionary leader, His Excellency Governor Umo Eno, who has taken the right step by moving the State in realignment with the center—for the benefit of all, regardless of political affiliation,” Edoho stated.
He called on all stakeholders in Ikpa Town to embrace the ongoing political transformation championed by the Governor, emphasizing his commitment to work tirelessly for Governor Eno’s reelection and to strengthen the APC’s hold in Esit Eket.
Receiving the decampees, the Chapter Chairman, Hon Daniel Assan, alongside other party executives and stakeholders, expressed delight and assured the new members of full integration and cooperation within the party structure, while calling on them to diligently follow the party constitution for the smooth running of the party in Ward 4, adding that Ward 4 is well organized.
He paid glowing tribute and recognition to the calibre of persons decamping to the APC.
Also speaking, Elder Monday Ette, a major stakeholder of the party in Ward 4 welcomed the decampees snd said he was delighted to see prominent politicians in Ward 4, who were in PDP decamp to the APC.
In his remarks, the APC Ward Chairman Mr Benjamin Enombang welcomed all the decampees and admonished against in-fighting for positions.
Prominent among the decampees were the deputy political leader in Esit Eket legislature, Hon Micheal Alfred, Personal Assistant to the Governor, Hon Ime Innocent, Special Adviser On Security and Youth Empowerment, Esit Eket LG, Hon Brown Atakpa, Supervisors, and Engr (Dr) Okon Enoch Edoho, chairmanship Aspirant in just the concluded Local government Election 2024.
